Reds can keep top-four hopes alive

Two Premier League giants that have underperformed this season go head-to-head as Chelsea play host to Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.

The Blues start this game with Bruno Saltor as interim head coach after the sacking of Graham Potter on Sunday.

Chelsea have not beaten the Reds in a home Premier League game since May 2018 and face another tough night against a side that will be determined to bounce back from their 4-1 defeat at Manchester City last Saturday.

With Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur dropping points in their latest outings, Liverpool’s slender hopes of a top-four finish are still alive.

There has been little to choose from between the Reds and the Blues in their most recent meetings, with their previous five clashes finishing level at the end of 90 minutes.

Liverpool are unbeaten in their last four league visits to Stamford Bridge, winning twice and drawing the other two encounters in west London.

With Chelsea seeking a new permanent boss to replace Potter, confidence in the Blues camp is likely to be fragile.

Jurgen Klopp’s side can take advantage of this and are well priced at 9/5 to come away from the capital with all three points.

James could be in hot water at the Bridge

Chelsea wing back Reece James has made a habit of picking up bookings in this fixture and it would be little surprise to see him in the book again on Tuesday night.

In his previous two starts against Liverpool in all competitions, James has seen a red card in one game and a yellow in the other.

With the attacking options that the Reds have at their disposal, it is likely to be a busy night for the Chelsea defence and the 23-year-old James is an attractive price at 3/1 to be carded at the Bridge.

Salah can torment former club again

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah may not openly admit it but he does seem to take added pleasure in scoring against his former employers Chelsea.

The Egypt international had a tough two-year spell with the Blues where he was sent out on loan to Fiorentina and Roma before making a permanent move to the Giallorossi in the Italian capital.

Now an icon at Anfield, Salah has enjoyed his recent meetings with Chelsea, scoring in two of their past three Premier League encounters.

Salah, who scored his 12th top-flight goal of the season at the weekend against Manchester City, is a man in form and can add to his tally on Tuesday night.

As a second part of a #PickYourPunt selection with Betfred, selecting under 2.5 total goals is certainly worth considering.

The bet would have landed in six of the previous seven meetings in all competitions between these sides at the end of 90 minutes.

This looks set to be another cagey affair but one in which Salah could well score the decisive goal to keep the Reds in the hunt for a coveted top-four place and Champions League football next season.

Chelsea vs Liverpool tip 3: Mohamed Salah to score anytime and under 2.5 total goals @ 17/2 with Betfred
