Everton can get something

The Premier League has a Monday night treat as Liverpool play host to Everton in the Merseyside derby.

The Reds are in a relatively bad place, most recently being outclassed 3-0 at Wolves, but they have lost just once at home to their local rivals since 1999.

However, the Toffees looked reborn as they beat Arsenal at Goodison Park in Sean Dyche’s first game in charge and the 51-year-old will be relishing the opportunity to add to his already booming cachet among the Everton faithful.

The performance against the Gunners nine days ago was fantastic and the Toffees were the deserved winners.

After some tough times at Goodison Park under Frank Lampard, Dyche looks to have freshened things up and brought a new wave of optimism to the camp.

Meanwhile, his Liverpool opposite number Jurgen Klopp is doing his best to right the ship – and while it may be too early to anticipate him leaving, it appears he will need to oversee a transitional period if he does remain at Anfield.

The good news for the Reds is that they have a stunning home record against Everton and have also won six of their 10 league matches at Anfield this season.

In contrast, Everton have won just once on the road this term but Dyche’s early impact suggests that after the Lampard era the club could be back on the right track.

A win on Monday would lift the Toffees out of the relegation zone and it would be no surprise to see them avoid defeat at Anfield.

Liverpool vs Everton tip 1: Draw or Everton @ 23/20 with Betfred

Onana in the book

One of the few shining lights for Everton this season has been summer signing Amadou Onana, who has done his best to hold the midfield together since joining from Lille.

Tall, agile, composed and skilful, the Belgium international has the potential to play at the very top.

However, he is only 21 and the raw youth of his dynamic and enthusiastic style has been exposed with six yellow cards this season.

They include the caution he received in September’s reverse fixture, a goalless draw.

Having also been carded against both Manchester clubs and Arsenal, as well as in his country’s first two fixtures at the World Cup, he clearly has no issue putting his foot in and he may add to his tally of yellow cards.

Expect attrition at Anfield

Recent meetings between this pair have been far from open and exciting, with only two of their past seven games in all competitions featuring over 2.5 goals.

The same looks likely on Monday and there are chances to boost the value via an accumulator bet through Betfred’s #PickYourPunt feature.

With both teams desperate for the win, a feisty encounter could be in store and a repeat of something similar to the seven yellow cards shown in this fixture last season may not be too far away, with Onana a prime candidate to contribute.

Add in that these sides often see plenty of corners in their matches, with Liverpool averaging 6.85 per Premier League game and Everton 4.8, a statistic boosted by having seven of their own against Arsenal. Looking at over nine corners in the game makes sense.

Liverpool vs Everton tip 3: Under 2.5 goals, over 9.5 corners and over 59.5 booking points @ 15/2 with Betfred
