Call 811 Before You Dig 250 Betting Analysis and Predictions

The 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series continues with the Call 811 Before You Dig 250 Powered by Call811.com. The race is slated for Friday, April 8, at the Martinsville Speedway, Ridgeway, Virginia, and it will mark the eighth race of the 2022 season.

Interestingly, the Call 811 Before You Dig 250 was first held in 1982, but this year will mark only the 15th running of the race. That is because Call 811 Before You Dig 250 was not added to the schedule between 1995 and 2002 before it made its long-awaited comeback in 2021.

Last races records

Josh Berry won the 2021 Call 811 Before You Dig 250 in April last year with JR Motorsport and will seek his second victory this Friday. If he manages to achieve it, Berry will become just one of three drivers who won here more than once – besides Sam Ard (1982, 1983) and Jimmy Hensley (1988, 1991).

Thanks to Sam Ard, his team, Thomas Brothers Racing is also the only team in the history of Call 811 Before You Dig 250 to win the race twice.

Of all manufacturers, Pontiac and Buick are the only two cars to win Call 811 Before You Dig 250 four times, with Oldsmobile and Chevrolet in a close second, with three wins apiece.

Call 811 Before You Dig 250 Betting Picks

Pick 1: Josh Berry

Berry won this race in 2021 and is hence someone we should keep a close eye on ahead of this week’s race.

Berry heads to Virginia as the current no.4 on the Xfinity Series standings, with 227 points, well behind the current leader, A.J. Allmendinger, who sits firmly at the top with 303. Still, even though Berry has not achieved as much as the current frontrunners, he had shown enough over the first seven races.

The 31-year-old started the season with a disappointing 16th-place finish at Daytona, but he quickly found some serious momentum. After the season opener, Berry racked in three successive top-5s with fourth-place finishes at Fontana and in Las Vegas and a third-place finish in Phoenix.

He has since not looked as sharp, with a 33rd in Atlanta and 27th at COTA, but bounced back with a seventh-place finish last weekend in Richmond.

Admittedly, Berry has had an up-and-down season so far, but he won here in 2021 and has shown glimpses of greatness, making it hard to doubt him ahead of the 2022 Call 811 Before You Dig 250.

Pick 2: A.J. Allmendinger

If you’re not adding A.J Allmendinger to your sports betting guide as one of the main NASCAR picks ahead of every Xfinity race, you’re doing something wrong. Admittedly, you likely won’t be getting any great NASCAR odds on A.J. Allmendinger, but there is a very good reason for that.

If we check the results of the NASCAR 2022 schedule, it’s very evident that Allmendinger is a class above everyone else. He has won only one race so far, but he also hasn’t finished worse than ninth across his seven starts.

That includes four top-4 finishes at Daytona (2nd), Atlanta (3rd), Richmond (4th), and a victory from COTA. One thing that could concern you is that Allmendinger has only managed a 13th-place finish here in 2021, which marked his third-worst finish of the season.

That tells a lot about how good Allmendinger is and that the Martinsville Speedway might not be his favorite track.

Pick 3: Noah Gragson

Noah Gragson has been phenomenal this season and is deservingly one of the favorites to win this Friday. As betting guides will tell you, Gragson is one of the most consistent drivers of the Xfinity Series, and he has numbers to back those claims up.

If we look past his 26th and 21st place finishes in Atlanta and Richmond, Gragson is one of the main concenters to win the title. Obviously, it’s way too early to make those claims, but Gragson has been phenomenal elsewhere.

Besides the two races, Gragson has not finished a race worse than fourth, including a 3rd-place finish at Daytona, runners-up in California and Las Vegas, a fourth-place finish at COTA, and a victory from Phoenix.

Moreover, he has done well on this track before. Gragson raced on this track three times and has always finished inside the top-3. That includes a third-place finish at 2020 Draft Top 250, a runner-up at 2021 Cook Out 250, and a victory from 2021 Dead On Tools 250.

Call 811 Before You Dig 250 Betting Trends

  • Chevrolet won both of the last two spring races at Martinsville Raceway
  • Josh Berry is the only still-active driver to win here in spring
  • Noah Gragson holds by far the best average finish at Martinsville (2.00)
  • Besides Gragson (188), Harrison Burton (135) and Austin Cindric (106) are the only two drivers to lead more than 100 laps on this track
  • Of the still-active Xfinity Series drivers, Allgaier has the best average starting position (4.33) and the fifth-best average finish (5.33)

Call 811 Before You Dig 250 Betting Predictions

When making our NASCAR betting picks for the 2022 Call 811 Before You Dig 250, we found many drivers who are capable of winning, but one stood out. Noah Gragson has been phenomenal on this track in the past, and even that is an understatement.

He has three top-3s across three starts, which alone is enough to make you confident he can deliver in Virginia. Moreover, he has been one of the best drivers of the Xfinity Series so far this season, with five top-5s, which includes a win in Phoenix.

A.J. Allmendinger and Ty Gibbs are the only two drivers who can compare to Gragson’s 2022 achievements. But even they have not accomplished as much on this track. Gragson is a no-brainer pick for the 2022 Call 811 Before You Dig 250!

Prediction: Noah Gragson to win
