Blues to land first win

After a positive draw with Liverpool on the opening week of the season, Chelsea disappointed in the defeat at West Ham last time out and boss Mauricio Pochettino will be demanding a quick response from his side when Luton visit.

The Blues have created plenty of openings in their first two games, recording 27 shots, with eight of those on target, and there is the feeling they are not far away from putting everything together as far as attack is concerned.

Chelsea face a Luton side who were thumped 4-1 by Brighton in their opening match of the campaign. The newly promoted Hatters have not been in action since, with their game last week against Burnley postponed as mandatory ground improvement works continued at Kenilworth Road.

Rob Edwards’s side were exposed on several occasions against the Seagulls and it looks like they could be in for a long season, especially if they fail to tighten up at the back.

Luton have not picked up an away victory in 90 minutes in their previous five attempts, but they have netted in all those assignments and they should be able to get on the scoresheet again this time.

While Chelsea’s attacking talent should mean they come out on top in this encounter, they have shipped four goals in two matches and a win for the hosts with both teams to score looks like the play here.

Senegalese to get up and running

Summer signing Nicolas Jackson impressed in pre-season and the only surprise after two games of the campaign is that he has not managed to open his Premier League account.

The Senegal international has had six attempts – the most of anyone in the squad – and if he continues to get into the right positions, a first goal in England’s top flight will not be far away.

Jackson netted 12 times in 26 La Liga appearances for Villarreal last season and it would be no surprise to see him thrive against a Luton defence that has already been exposed this term.

Duo to enter the notebook

We have already seen plenty of cards in this new season and there is every chance this pattern will continue at Stamford Bridge between two teams who do not mind getting stuck in.

The Blues have received six cautions in their two outings – only Newcastle, Brighton and Aston Villa have more – and one of those has gone the way of midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

The Argentina international is well accustomed to sticking his foot in and there is every chance he will be in the thick of the action once again, regardless of whether he has Moises Caicedo next to him in the middle of the park.

Joining Fernandez in the book could be Luton wing back Issa Kabore, who was exposed more than once in the loss at Brighton and picked up a yellow card at the Amex Stadium.

The 22-year-old is likely to have a fair chunk of defending to do in west London – and with the likes of Raheem Sterling running at him, the chances of a caution heading his way look high.

Chelsea vs Luton tip 3: Enzo Fernandez and Issa Kabore to be carded @ 9/1 with Sky Bet
