Darts Tips: Mark Webster's 3 Best Bets for Monday at the World Championship

Mark Webster’s Best Bets for Monday Evening:

7:15pm Mario Vandenbogaerde v Thibault Tricole:  Vandenbogaerde to win 3-1

It’s going to be a tricky game this one. Mario’s someone who’s got to grips with the PDC this year. He’s very slow and methodical and that could slow Thibault down. Thibault’s Tricole’s been a finalist in the WDF but never qualified here. I think the pace of Mario Vandenbogaerde and the way he plays will upset Thibault and I think he’ll come through and make his way to the next round. I think it will be 3-1.

8:15pm Gian van Veen v Man Lok Leung: van Veen to win 3-0

Gian Van Veen is a hot favourite and rightly so. He’s been fantastic this year and he almost made the European Championship Final. He was in that World Youth Final with Luke Littler as well and that was an explosive final. He’s found serious levels. He’s a power scorer and thrown the most 180’s this year. He had problems with his throw about three years ago and he couldn’t let them go but he’s made it work and come through a better version of himself.

I’m expecting him to have a good tournament beyond this first round. I think he’ll come through comfortably and don’t see him being pushed too much. 3-0 to Gian for me.

9:15pm Martin Lukeman v Haupai Puha: Lukeman to win 3-2

It was a brilliant year for Martin Lukeman last year, his breakthrough year. He got to the Matchplay, the Grand Prix and the World’s. He hasn’t managed to stay as steady as he was last year but he’s still a capable opponent. This one will be a tough game. Haupai Puha’s got a bit of experience, he played well in the World Series down under but I think Lukeman wins and I think he scrapes a deciding set. 3-2 to Lukeman.
