Dodgers vs. Diamondbacks prediction and odds for Tuesday, Aug. 8 (Dodgers should roll

It’s been quite the fall for the Arizona Diamondbacks in the National League West, as they’ve gone from first to third place and enter Tuesday’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on a six-game losing streak.

Arizona’s playoff hopes are dwindling, and the team is just one game above .500 on the season.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers have opened up a four-game lead in the West and are once again expected to contend for a World Series title.

For that to happen, though, they’ll need more from star lefty Julio Urías (8-6, 4.69 ERA) who gets the start on Tuesday night.

He will be opposed by Arizona youngster Brandon Pfaadt (0-5, 7.11 ERA), who is still looking for his first win at the Major League level.

Here are the odds and my best bet for this matchup:

After a brutal start to his MLB career, Pfaadt turned in an absolute gem on Aug. 3 against the San Francisco Giants.

The young righty was called up and delivered with seven innings of two-hit, one-run ball in a 1-0 loss to the Giants.

That’s been the story for the D-Backs as of late, as the team ranks dead last in Major League Baseball in OPS and runs scored over the last 15 days.

That won’t cut it against the Dodgers, who are third and second in those respective categories over the same stretch.

While Urías hasn’t been great in 2023, he’s still the pitcher to trust in this matchup given the fact that Pfaadt was sent down due to his effectiveness earlier this season.

Until Arizona’s bats start to come around, the team is nearly impossible to bet on.

Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.
