EPL prop picks for Matchday 27: Bet on Raheem Sterling and Marcus Rashford

We’re eyeing some prop picks for this weekend’s Premier League slate.

The pregame narrative: Raheem Sterling is fully fit and a solid bet to register a shot on target. We’re also backing Marcus Rashford to stay hot and fading Aleksander Mitrovic against Arsenal.

Premier League odds as of 2:38 p.m. on 03/08/2023.

EPL prop picks for Matchday 27

Best Bet: Sterling over 0.5 SOT (-113)

Sterling scored for Chelsea in their Champions League round of 16 victory over Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday and we expect him to build on that performance.

The former Manchester City forward has registered a shot on target in five of his eight appearances since returning from the international break but it would be more apt to call that five of seven.

Sterling only played four minutes against his former club on January 5 before exiting the game with an injury.

That had him sidelined for nearly a month. Upon his return, he was forced to come off the bench for two games before regaining his starting spot.

Sterling has started three straight games for the Blues, averaging 77 minutes in those contests. He registered a shot on target in two of those games with a shot attempt in all three.

He’s in a favourable position to keep chugging this weekend when Chelsea takes on Leicester City.

The Foxes are one of the worst defensive teams in the Premiership and allow the fifth-most shot attempts per game (13.9).

Key stat: Sterling had three shots on target and two goals when Chelsea played Leicester City earlier this season.

Quick picks

Mitrovic under 2.5 shot attempts (-127): Mitrovic’s 31 shots on target this season is good for the sixth-most in the Premier League but we believe this is a good spot to fade the Serbian striker.

He’s gone under this mark in four of his last five games including each of his past two.

Moreover, he’s playing an Arsenal side that’s rock-solid defensively. The Gunners give up the second-fewest shot attempts per game (8.2) and have only conceded 25 times all season (tied for first in Premier League).

Rashford over 1.5 SOT (+102): Manchester United and Rashford are still licking their wounds after a 7-0 lashing at the hands of Liverpool but this is a good spot for a bounce-back performance.

Rashford has recorded the third-most shots on target this season (32), and he’s been particularly clinical at home this season.

The 25-year-old has recorded two-plus shots on target in eight of his 12 Premier League home fixtures this season.
