This is the tenth game for the Jaguars overseas, with their record in games played outside of the U.S. sitting at 4-5. For the Falcons (1-1 abroad), it’s the third trip across the pond.

This the first of a two-game stretch for the Jaguars in London. They host Buffalo in Week 5 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in North London.

Atlanta has won each of the last four meetings between the two franchises, all by six points or better, but the Jaguars are a three-point favorite according to the oddsmakers.

The Jags were a great story in 2022, winning their last five games to make the playoffs and then stunning the LA Chargers in the Wild Card Round after falling behind 27-0.

However, in 2023, Jacksonville is 1-2 and struggled in a shocking loss to the Houston Texans in Week 3. The Texans scored 37 points, the most Jacksonville has allowed since Week 13 last year, and a Texans fullback scored a touchdown on a kickoff return.

Atlanta is going with a youth movement under coach Arthur Smith. They haven’t made the playoffs since 2017.

Quarterback Desmond Ridder will be making his eighth start under center and he looks like most young quarterbacks in the NFL: great at times, clueless at others. Rookie running back Bijan Robinson has been as good as advertised for the 2-1 Falcons, running for 213 yards and has 14 catches.

Kickoff at Wembley is early, 8:30 a.m. CT, and the game is only available on ESPN+ which requires a subscription.

Atlanta was 2-0 before getting dominated by the Lions in Week 3. The offensive line was a serious letdown, getting Ridder sacked seven times, but this is a match-up that seems to favor the Falcons.

Jacksonville just hasn’t looked sharp this season. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence has been alright but the defense ranks 23rd overall and special teams has been poor, kicker Brandon McManus is 5-7 and had a kick blocked against Houston.

Atlanta matches up well with the Jaguars with their 1-2 running combination of Robison and Tyler Allgeier, plus they have a clutch kicker in Younghoe Koo. The points are too good to pass up.

After a brilliant career at Texas, Robinson was expected to give the Falcons a dynamic weapon in the backfield and so far he’s delivered. He’s shown uncanny power and a good burst to the outside.

He’s a great bet to score the Falcons first TD Sunday morning because Atlanta will try to get him the ball early and often to set the tone.

Etienne has been the best part of the Jaguars offense so far, but the Falcons have a sneaky tough defense against the run with standout tackle Grady Jarrett in the middle.

The Falcons biggest weakness on defense is an inability to rush the passer, but they’re good at stopping the run. Etienne went over this total seven times last year, but the Falcons will be locked in on him. The Jags offensive line has struggled in the last two weeks.
