The 2022 College Football season kicks off on August 27. Gamecock Scoop staff writers give their picks for Shane Beamer's second season in Columbia and their projected SEC standings.

Gamecock Scoop's consensus SEC standings project is based on the individual ballots from Caleb Alexander, Alan Cole, Perry McCarty, and Stephen Anderson.

Perry predicts that South Carolina will be much improved this year. He also gives his predictions for the season. He gives them 9-3. For the first time in years, Clemson will win a game. Georgia won't be as good as last year's team. Vandy will probably be the worst team in the SEC. Florida will have a new regime and is still trying to figure out what it does best. Tennessee's offense takes advantage of lesser talented teams. Carolina should be well prepared this season, but until proven otherwise, Perry gives Clemson the nod.

Gamecock Scoop Staff picks Alabama to win the National Championship for the seventh time in Nick Saban's tenure. They also predict the remaining New Year's Six Bowls.

The Heisman is the most prestigious award bestowed upon an individual athlete in American sports. Three of the four GC Scoop staff members feel that Bryce Young will join Archie Griffin as the only two-time winner this year. Alan thinks this will be historical but for a different reason. Mr. Cole says the voters award the trophy to the game's best player, Alabama linebacker Will Anderson Jr.
