Lions vs. Bears: Preview, odds, props and best bets

Experienced NFL bettors know that when it comes to division rivalries, there are specific edges to look for. On Sunday, the Detroit Lions (9-3) will visit the Chicago Bears in an NFC North matchup. Each of these teams is looking to build off of road wins in Week 13. Detroit is jockeying for playoff position and is still in play to receive a first-round bye. The Bears are playing for the future. More on this below.

Despite winning three of their last four games, Detroit’s defense has struggled, giving up at least 26 points in each game. That includes the 31-26 win in Week 11 over these Bears.

Jared Goff threw three interceptions in that game and the Lions needed a heroic effort to overcome a 12-point fourth-quarter deficit. The rematch comes on the road for the Lions, who should know not to take the Bears lightly this time around.

The Bears’ loss to Detroit certainly wasn’t Fields’ fault, who helped build a 26-14 fourth-quarter lead, in part by rushing for over 100 yards.

Fields claims not to be preoccupied with his future in Chicago despite rumors that the Bears could look to draft a quarterback with their first-round pick. In addition to their own pick (which should fall in the top five), the Bears own the Carolina Panthers first-round pick, which is the No.1 overall selection, as of today. Fields is auditioning for next season, whether that is with the Bears or elsewhere.

The Bears looked like the better team in Week 11. Detroit needed a fourth-quarter miracle to beat the Bears, and they got one. Chicago has quietly been playing some confident football and won’t back down from the Lions who, despite winning three of their past four, have been playing with fire (all three of those wins were by five points or fewer).

Moore seems to love playing the Lions. He has at least 83 receiving yards in four straight games against Detroit, including 96 in their matchup just three weeks ago. Moore and Fields seem to be building a rapport. He went for 114 yards on 11 receptions in last week’s win over Minnesota. He is always a threat for a big gain, making this total manageable.
