Luton no pushovers

FA Cup holders Manchester City have shown their ability to grind out wins while not at their best in recent weeks, beating Brentford and Bournemouth 1-0 in their last two matches.

They have actually kept three clean sheets in their last five but have generally struggled to keep oppositions at bay this season.

City have conceded 36 goals in 37 games across all competitions this season, excluding the Club World Cup and Super Cup.

That includes a 2-1 win over Luton when the sides met at Kenilworth Road in the Premier League in December.

Luton proved that day, as they did in recent defeats by Manchester United and Liverpool, that while they have not yet beaten elite opponents, they can compete with them.

Rob Edwards’ side also scored four against Brighton and Newcastle United so there is no doubt of their attacking quality.

The Hatters have scored in all but two of their 15 games at home this season so should get on the scoresheet against the treble winners even if they are likely to be on the wrong end of the result.

Watch out for Rodri

Rodri’s importance for City cannot be understated and while his important goals are eye-catching his disciplinary record perhaps goes under the radar.

The Spaniard has been shown eight yellow cards in 33 appearances this season – no City player has been booked more.

That includes a yellow card in the league meeting between the sides.

While Pep Guardiola is likely to rotate his side tonight with a busy March coming up, Rodri should start as he did in the previous round against Spurs.

Luton have proved potent on the counter-attack and with Rodri the man tasked with stopping them, he could end up in the referee’s book again and is an attractive price to do so.

Corners the cornerstone of bet builder

As we expect City to win and both teams to score, over 2.5 goals in the game is a natural first choice for our bet builder.

It is a selection that would have landed in Luton’s last seven games as well as when these two met earlier this season.

Next, we have turned to the corners market as we expect City to win over 5.5 and have more than their hosts.

The treble winners have won over 5.5 corners in each of their last 10 matches across all competitions and have also won more corners than their opposition in those games.

With a City win expected, they should also dominate the corner count and win more than a Luton side who average 5.3 per game in the Premier League this term.

The final part of our bet builder is for Luton striker Cauley Woodrow to have over 0.5 shots on target.

The Englishman has started Luton’s last two games in the absence of Elijah Adabyo, who is also expected to miss tonight’s game.

Woodroow will be the Hatters’ main attacking outlet and should get a shot on target away as he did in his last appearance at Kenilworth Road against Manchester United.

Luton vs Manchester City tip 3: Bet Builder: Over 2.5 goals, over 5.5 Man City corners, Man City most corners and Cauley Woodrow over 0.5 shots on target @ 16/5 with BetMGM
