Champions to bounce back

City’s 11-match winning run in all competitions came to an end when they were held 1-1 by Chelsea on Saturday but they should be capable of bouncing back against Brentford.

Pep Guardiola’s side beat the Bees 3-1 at the Gtech Community Stadium just over a fortnight ago and have not lost at the Etihad Stadium in any competition this season, winning 12 and drawing four.

City’s defence hasn’t always been watertight, however, and they have kept just four clean sheets in 12 top-flight matches at home.

Ivan Toney scored against Liverpool at the weekend as well as in that recent defeat by City, and we’re backing a similar outcome when the clubs meet this evening, with City conceding but winning.

Manchester City vs Brentford tip 1: City to win and both teams to score @ 13/8 with Sky Bet

De Bruyne can unlock Brentford

Kevin De Bruyne’s recent return to action has come at just the right time for City and he has slotted back into his familiar starring role for the side.

The Belgian has registered an assist in four of his five league games since returning to the squad and of course has a great understanding with striker Erling Haaland.

De Bruyne provided an assist for the second of Phil Foden’s three goals in this month’s win in west London and we expect him to provide at least one assist this evening.

Manchester City vs Brentford tip 2: Kevin De Bruyne 1+ assists @ 4/5 with Sky Bet

Mark Flekken down for bet builder

Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken made 12 saves in the first meeting between the sides and he is expected to be a busy man again this evening, so we’re backing him to make at least four saves as the first leg of our bet builder.

Whether or not he can stop the irrepressible Haaland is another matter. Last season’s Golden Boot winner heads this season’s standings with 16 league goals and we’re backing him to add to that.

Our final selection for the bet builder is for Neal Maupay to be booked, as he was in the reverse fixture. Maupay’s recent spat with Kyle Walker has been fuelled by the media in recent days and there’s every chance he could end up in the referee’s notebook again.
