Midlands Grand National tips and predictions: Mr Incredible the choice

The Midlands National at Uttoxeter this afternoon (3pm) looks set to be another cracking race.

Last year’s renewal was won by Major Dundee for Alan King and Rex Dingle.

An Incredible victory incoming

It could be another big-race success for Willie Mullins, as Mr Incredible has a strong chance. He was going well in the Grand National at Aintree last year before the saddle slipped, which caused him to unseat his jockey.

We will never know where he would have finished, but the way he was travelling he could have at least made the places.

Before that, he ran in the Kim Muir at Cheltenham. He was well back with a few fences to go, but stayed on very strongly to finish third.

The Westerner gelding can clearly stay and should not have a problem with the four-mile trip.

Truckers Lodge could provide another big win for young Gingell

Freddie Gingell has had a brilliant start to his career. Not many can say they have won a Grade 1 as a conditional jockey, but that is what he achieved when victorious in the Clarence House at Cheltenham in January on Elixir De Nutz.

Truckers Lodge has also provided him with some success as they won the London National at Sandown in December. He was not the same in the Welsh National, pulled up when three out, but it was a much tougher race – only five of the 19 runners finished.

He won this race in 2020 and is now 2lb lower than the winning mark, and 7lb if you take into account Gingell’s 5lb claim.

Truckers Lodge, another Westerner gelding, is 12 now, but still continues to run well. He may have one more big race in him, and is worth backing each-way.
