While New York had high expectations and fell flat with a 74-73 record to this point, Cole, the starter here, is a big reason why they’re not a lot worse than they are. 

He’s 13-4 on the year with a 2.79 ERA and 204 strikeouts across 187 innings of work in 30 starts. He’ll take on Johan Oviedo here for the Pirates, who’s had some rough outings recently (back-to-back three earned run games) but had four starts in August, allowing one run or less.

These teams both average 4.20 runs per game, but this pitching matchup could be fairly low-scoring.

Baltimore Orioles vs. Tampa Bay Rays MLB Predictions Today & Odds, 6:35 PM ET

As we head into this Orioles vs. Rays prediction, Tampa Bay is on the heels of Baltimore. Baltimore holds just a one-game lead as they take on Rays starter Zach Eflin.

Here, we’re going to focus on his MLB player props. 

His strikeout line heading into this one for Eflin is just 3.5, which, considering he hasn’t dipped below this line since August 13, we feel quite good about it. 

The Orioles strikeout 8.29 times per game and have struck out ten times per game over their last three.

This feels like a layup for our best MLB bets today. 

Los Angeles Angels vs. Detroit Tigers MLB Predictions Today & Odds, 9:40 PM ET

Interestingly enough, these teams almost have identical records heading into this Angels vs. Tigers prediction. 

We’ll look into MLB player props for Angels starter Griffin Canning at home. 

Pitching against the Tigers, who struck out 9.10 times and score just 3.97 times per game, will take on Canning, who has a strikeout line of 6.5 in this matchup. 

The Tigers should be a susceptible lineup, but Canning has exceeded 6.5 strikeouts just three times over his last six starts. 

Today, the Tigers lineup looks to be right-handed dominant. Canning allows a .267 batting average to righties and has 68 strikeouts across 217 at-bats.

Chicago White Sox vs. Minnesota Twins MLB Predictions Today & Odds, 7:40 PM ET

For our final MLB best bet today, we’re diving into an AL Central showdown with this White Sox vs. Twins prediction.

Instead of the moneyline or run line, we’ve found an MLB player prop for Twins third baseman Royce Lewis that we’re looking to hit hard for this slate. 

We’re looking to exceed his total bases, which is 1.5.

Lewis, a righty, will face White Sox starter Jesse Scholtens, also a righty.

Scholtens, a rookie, allows a .333 batting average and .374 on-base percentage to righties. He’s also allowed all 12 of his home runs to right-handed batters. 

Of Lewis’ 13 home runs, he’s had 12 against righties and is hitting .298 with a .354 on-base percentage. 

He’ll have plenty of opportunities to rack up some bases here.
