MOVING THE CHAINS: Looking back at preseason SEC football predictions

At the beginning of the season, I made predictions for the 14 teams in the SEC. I was a little off base.

Bryce Young was not invited to New York for the presentation of the Heisman. He was one of five players who won the award.

Vanderbilt finished 5-7 in the SEC this season. The Commodores ended their 26-game losing streak against Kentucky and Florida. They lost 56-0 to Tennessee in their season finale.

Spencer Rattler threw 16 touchdown passes and 11 interceptions. He led South Carolina to back-to-back wins over top-10 teams Tennessee and Clemson. They will meet in the Orange Bowl.

Tennessee won 10 games for the first time since 2007. The team's marching band played Rocky Top one million times. The Vols beat Alabama to knock them out of the College Football Playoff.

Auburn fired coach Bryan Harsin after the team's fifth loss of the season.

Montrell Johnson and Trevor Etienne both came close to rushing for 1,000 yards for Florida. Johnson averaged just 12 carries a game and Etience only nine.

Missouri is still the black sheep, ugly duckling and red-headed stepchild of the SEC.

LSU is the favorite team of the preseason SEC football predictions. Head coach Brian Kelly managed to get his team into the SEC Championship Game in his first season at the helm.

Texas A&M won the conference championship by beating LSU in the season finale. The Aggies and Vanderbilt finished the year with identical 5-7 records and 2-6 in SEC games.

Kentucky finished 3-5 for the season. Mark Stoops' record in Lexington is 66-58 for a winning percentage of .532. Steve Spurrier's winning Percentage at Florida was .817, Nick Saban's at Alabama is .877.

Arkansas has had a very up-and-down season. The team has won three games, lost three and won one.

Both Mississippi and Mississippi State finished with identical 8-4 records. The margin of victory in the Egg Bowl was just two points.

Georgia will find out on January 9 if they won the National Championship.
