NBA Picks January 28th
Oklahoma City Thundervs. Detroit Pistons
Tipoff – 2:00 pm EST
Spread: Thunder -13.0
Total: 242
Cade Cunningham is back for the Detroit Pistons, but it didn’t make any difference on Saturday, as they got pasted by the Washington Wizards (which is a hard thing to do). So now they get to face one of the best teams in the NBA, the Oklahoma City Thunder, on the second night of a back-to-back. Why wouldn’t the Thunder cover the 13-point spread? However, these two teams won’t cover the total of 242 – I think it ends up in the low 230s.
Best Bet: Thunder -13.0 (-110); Thunder/Pistons Under 242 (-110)
Memphis Grizzlies vs. Indiana Pacers
Tipoff – 3:30 pm EST
Spread: Pacers -9.0
Total: 235.5
The Memphis Grizzlies have won three straight games, but they can’t continue this run, can they? Ja Morant, Desmond Bane, Marcus Smart, and Luke Kennard will all be missing from action on Sunday – four of their top five scorers. And Indiana is on a run of their own, knocking off the Philadelphia 76ers and the Phoenix Suns in their last two games, both without Tyrese Haliburton. The Pacers -9 is the play for Sunday. The total looks about right to me, so I’m not touching it.
