Preview, Tips and Best Bets for Ipswich Wednesday August 31

Ipswich has been getting plenty of racing. The rail is between 8 and 10 metres so the track favours front-runners. There will be a bit of rain around to take the sting out of the ground.

CAESARIS (6) has a good gate and in-form 3kg claimer Angela Jones. OUR HEART THROB (3) will strip fitter here and placed at his last outing at this track. DEFERENTIAL (1) is also blessed with a nice gate. INTOXEL (7) made good ground to place here when resuming.

Cocobrew Express (1) is a three-time winner and won his only previous start here. COCOBREW EXPRESS has a class edge on these races. PLUMS AKIMBO (5) has been improved by two outings and will get a positive ride from Angela Jones. Les Ross loves QTIS races and MISHANI MOBSTER (3) and Mishani SUPREME (4) have had their chances.

SON OF MERCURY (4) should be at peak fitness and should win in the Maiden Handicap 1350m. VIKING FOREVER (5) was run down late over this trip at the Gold Coast last start. DOMINANCE (8) did plenty wrong here last time but will benefit from the experience. Angela Jones could win on a broomstick.

AKKAI MARU (2) showed promise last preparation winning twice and not being disgraced behind Kingston's Here. MORETON BAY (3) was narrowly beaten by Reeanon in this grade when resuming here last start. Angela Jones replaces Steph Thornton and has the speed to overcome the wide draw. AHIKA (4) has only won one of 16 starts but was runner-up last time to the smart Liza With A Zee. CHAMPAGNE TASTES (10) won her Maiden here.

NED'S GULLY (6) is back to midweek company after a bold effort in Saturday's Class 3 company. Clinchera Star (4) doesn't win out of turn but is fitter for two outings and was beaten less than a length in a Class3 Plate last start. TIKKA READY is hard to follow but a good gate helps. SNAZZ ‘N’ CHARM (1) rarely far away in this company but he is rarely close in the company and his last win came in an 1100m class.

Mark Currie has brought SKILORD back to midweek grade. MAGNITUDO (2) just missed in Class 3 last start and has a good record at this track. Rich Lister (3) disappointed when resuming but has an excellent record here winning three of four outings. KING'S EXPRESS (7) is a lightly raced six-year-old which was too good here over this trip last time.

NISHIKORI (1) is in fine form and can get the hat-trick in Benchmark 70 Handicap 1350m. Archdeacon (8) has only won one of 11 races but has been close-up at his past two outings and is reaching peak fitness. SAILING (7) brings good Northern Rivers form, Stephen Lee knows what it takes to win on this track and no one rides it better than Jim Byrne. HEHE KNOWS (5) finds it hard to won but will be improved off his first-time run.
