Racing Tips: The Everest returns at Royal Randwick and Melbourne’s Spring carnival continues with Caufield Guineas

Sydney's biggest race day returns to Royal Randwick with the seventh running of The Everest while Melbourne enjoys the Caufield Guineas.

Spring racing continues in Sydney and Melbourne on Saturday with a mammoth day including four group 1s.

The races under the microscope this week in Sydney are The Everest and King Charles III Stakes and in Melbourne it's the Might And Power and Caufield Guineas.

Last week Mick Gannon was the best of the tipsters picking a roughie at $18 and a winner at $2.50.

Expert tips:

SkyNews.com.au has recruited four expert tipsters who will help readers pick the best odds and horses to make the most of each race day.

Neil Evans is a regular podcaster, columnist and contributor to The Sportsman - Australia's leading form newspaper, Racing NSW and the Sydney Morning Herald.

Mick Gannon is a racing expert and leading form analyst at TheGreatTipOff.com, SENTrack and also runs a racing podcast.

Matthew Campbell is the head of communications at Betr and expert tipster and form analyst with The Great Tip Off and Punters.

All odds are provided by Betr (at time of publication) and race times are Australian Eastern Standard Time.

Group 1 Neds Might And Power – 3:45pm – 2000 metres – Caufield race 7

Neil’s tips:

Best bet: 1. Alligator Blood - $2.30 - Couldn’t be better placed fourth-up this trip from a low draw and there must be a query on his main market rival who comes back 400 metres in distance switching states.

Roughie of the race: 3. Nonconformist - $17

Mick’s tips:

Best bet: 1. Alligator Blood - $2.30 - Meets similar opposition again, this time out to the 2000 metres. He’s the proven commodity at WFA and should get the job done once again.

Roughie of the race: 8. Lindermann - $15

Matthew’s tips:

Best bet: 9. Duais - $5 - Her run in The Underwood behind Alligator Blood was excellent so now 4th up to 2000 metres, maybe we are going to see the horse we remember from a few years back when she won the Coongy and the Australian Cup, both at this distance.

Roughie of the race: 3. Nonconformist - $17

The TAB Everest – 4:15pm – 1200 metres – Randwick race 7

Neil’s tips:

Best bet: 1. I Wish I Win - $4.80 - Outstanding return at Caulfield over a furlong further beaten by half a length by weight for age star Mr Brightside. Gets a soft run back in the field and the big key is being kept fresh 40 days between runs for the drop back in trip.

Roughie of the race: 12. Cylinder - $8.50

Mick’s tips:

Best bet: 3. Think About It - $4.60 - Has won 10 from 11 and we’re yet to see his ceiling. He arrives here second-up and looks yet to run a career peak. He maps to perfection and will be very hard to beat.

Roughie of the race: 5. Overpass - $12

Matthew’s tips:

Best bet: 1. I Wish I Win - $4.80 - He was outstanding first up in The Memsie, has had the six weeks to freshen up and his record in big races speaks for itself. The 1200 metres is his specialty and if he runs anything like he did at his one run here winning the T J Smith, beating Giga Kick, then he can win again.

Roughie of the race: 6. Buenos Noches - $13

Group 1 Neds Caufield Guineas – 5:10pm – 1600 metres – Caufield race 9

Neil’s tips:

Best bet: 1. Militarize - $2.80 - Brilliant second-up win in the Group 1 Golden Rose; making up enormous ground over the final furlong. Natural step up in trip is good and will be saved up again for a big final burst from the 400m. That form rates worldly above this line-up which is one of the poorest ever seen in the race's history.

Roughie of the race: 10. Wolfy - $13

Mick’s tips:

Best bet: 3. King Colorado - $9 - Screams miler and he gets to that distance on Saturday. He was unlucky not to win the Winx Stakes first-up and I’m willing to forgive him last start off an abnormal set up. This is his grand final and I expect a huge run.

Roughie of the race: 14. Copacabana - $101

Matthew’s tips:

Best bet: 1. Militarize - $2.80 - Already a three-time Group 1 winning colt from just seven starts. Wide draw, but he has shown with his win in the Golden Mile that won’t be an issue and unlike most of his main rivals he is proven at the 1600 metres. His win at that distance in The Champagne was a ripper.

Roughie of the race: 7. Scheelite - $13

Group 1 King Charles III Stakes – 5:35pm – 1600 metres – Randwick race 9

Neil’s tips:

Best bet: 3. Zaaki - $8.50 - Stays at the mile and on a third-up prep peak, and we are about to see the real one again at great odds.

Roughie of the race: 1. Think It Over - $12

Mick’s tips:

Best bet: 14. Fangirl - $7.50 - Gets to the mile third-up, draws for a soft run in transit and has the services of James McDonald on grand final day. Ticks all the boxes.

Roughie of the race: 12. Kovalica - $17

Matthew’s tips:

Best bet: 2. Mr Brightside - $2.20 - His last five runs have seen him win five straight and they include an All Star Mile, three Group 1’s and a Group 2. Add that to the fact he has had two runs here at Randwick and won two Doncasters. He’s better than ever this time in and currently the best horse in the country.

Roughie of the race: 5. Light Infantry Man - $9
