Racing Tips: Royal Randwick hosts Epsom Day with three group ones

Royal Randwick is hosting Epsom Day on Saturday in one of the best racing events in the state.

There are three group ones and a group two across the day with superstar horses like Tiz Invincible, Think About It and Kovalica all lining up.

The races under the microscope this week are the G1 Flight Stakes, G2 Premiere Stakes, G1 Epsom and the G2 Metropolitan.

Last week the SkyNews.com.au tipsters picked a winner in all four races with top odds out to $6.

SkyNews.com.au has recruited four expert tipsters who will help readers pick the best odds and horses to make the most of each race day.

Neil Evans is a regular podcaster, columnist and contributor to The Sportsman - Australia's leading form newspaper, Racing NSW and the Sydney Morning Herald.

Mick Gannon is a racing expert and leading form analyst at TheGreatTipOff.com, SENTrack and also runs a racing podcast.

Dean Watling is a regular racing expert and analyst for SEN Track, Racing.com, The Race Club Australia and Deanwatling.com.

Matthew Campbell is the head of communications at Betr and expert tipster and form analyst with The Great Tip Off and Punters.

All odds are provided by Betr (at time of publication) and race times are Australian Eastern Standard Time.

Group 1 Darley Flight Stakes – 2:50pm – 1600 metres – Randwick race six

Neil’s tips:

Best bet: 2. Kimochi – $6 – Hits the ultimate distance peak now over a mile and unlike 3rd-up when ridden too close, can settle further back off the speed and produce a superior closing 400m burst.

Roughie: 7. Mollynickers -$6.50

Mick’s tips:

Best bet: 1. Tiz Invincible – $2.60 – Has taken all before her this preparation and should prove to classy once again. The wide draw from the mile start is of no concern, she’ll roll forward and land in the running line before showing her strong turn of foot.

Roughie: 6. Summer Loving - $31

Matthew’s tips:

Best bet: 7. Mollynickers – $6.50 – Talented filly who won two on the trot at short odds before really catching the eye when she flew home to run fourth in the Atlantic Jewel behind Charm Stone. On that occasion she gave them a huge start at the Valley over 1200 metres. It should be a totally different story here where she gets to 1600 metres for the first time and Jamie Kah has the inside draw.

Roughie: 5. French Endeavour - $14

Group 2 Precise Air Premiere Stakes – 3:25pm – 1200 metres – Randwick race seven

Neil’s tips:

Best bet: 2. Think About It – $2.25 – Outstanding five-year-old who is strong at both ends and comes to hand quickly into a new prep; draws to get the right run and has been fitted with two trials.

Roughie: 6. Hawaii Five Oh - $10

Mick’s tips:

Best bet: 6. Hawaii Five Oh – $10 – Will relish the step up to 1200m, will be at rock hard fit and looks ready to produce a career peak.

Roughie: 8. Alcohol Free - $8.50

Matthew’s tips:

Best bet: 2. Think About It – $2.25 – He’s won nine of 10 including his last seven and two Group 1 races. All we needed was to see him trial well to suggest the winning run can continue and he has been doing so. Has to lose one before you can tip against him.

Roughie: 8. Alcohol Free - $8.50

Group 1 TAB Epsom – 4:05pm – 1600 metres – Randwick race eight

Neil’s tips:

Best bet: 10. Kovalica – $9 – Resuming run was only fair; but always progresses into the next start and has since gone back to the trials. Unbeaten both second-up and over the mile, and given he has carnival winning form up to 2400m, nothing will be hitting the line harder.

Roughie: 16. Democracy Manifest - $16

Mick’s tips:

Best bet: 3. The Inevitable – $7 – Impressed first-up when going very close in the Theo Marks and looks set to peak second-up. He drops 4.5kg for this, maps a treat and will be rattling home.

Roughie: 19. Waterford - $14

Matthew’s tips:

Best bet: 10. Kovalica – $9 – He is unbeaten second up, unbeaten at the mile and will be strong at the end as he is a Group 1 Derby winner. Joao Moreira jumps on board and as he did with Militarize can easily pull out a Group 1 winning ride.

Roughie: 1. My Oberon - $21

Group 1 James Squire Metropolitan – 4:45pm – 2400 metres – Randwick race nine

Neil’s tips:

Best bet: 14. Just Fine – $1.80 – Very progressive six-year-old who will continue to show his class the longer the trips get. Was dominant over 2000 metres last start, again draws to roll forward from a soft draw, and it's rare to have a stayer of this quality carrying just 50kg. Melbourne Cup-bound. The one to beat!

Roughie: 4. Major Beel - $16

Mick’s tips:

Best bet: 14. Just Fine – $1.80 – Was so impressive last start shaking off plenty of pressure on turning for home. He just needs to run out the 2400 metres to be winning this.

Roughie: 4. Major Beel - $16

Matthew’s tips:

Best bet: 14. Just Fine – $1.80 – Been so dominant in his two wins in Australia that it’s hard to see anything else winning. Has been most impressive at 1600 metres then almost broke the track record at 2000 metres and while the distance will be the next challenge, he did place at a similar trip back home. Incredibly after those two impressive wins he drops down to just 50 kg.

Roughie: 17. Mr Waterville - $7
