Racing Tips: Saturday racing brings the Doomben Cup Day with Brisbane hosting three grouped races and The Goodwood

Saturday is Doomben Cup Day and Zaaki is out for revenge after failing as the heavy favourite for the Cup last year.

A wet Brisbane track will also host the group two ANZ Bloodstock News The Roses and group three BRC Sprint.

Meanwhile Morphettville racegoers will watch the group one The TAB Goodwood featuring class horses including Lofty Strike.

Across SkyNews.com.au's tipsters the winner was picked in all selected races last tip out including Special Swey at $31.

This week the tipsters have chosen their favourites with odds out to $41.

Expert tips:

SkyNews.com.au has recruited four expert tipsters who will help readers pick the best odds and horses to make the most of each race day.

Neil Evans is a regular podcaster, columnist and contributor to The Sportsman - Australia's leading form newspaper, Racing NSW and the Sydney Morning Herald.

Mick Gannon is a racing expert and leading form analyst at TheGreatTipOff.com, SENTrack and also runs a racing podcast.

Matthew Campbell is the head of communications at Betr and expert tipster and form analyst with The Great Tip Off and Punters.

All odds are provided by Betr (at time of publication) and race times are Australian Eastern Standard Time.

XXXX Doomben Cup - 3:17pm - 2000 metres - Doomben race 7

Neil’s tips:

Best bet: 1. Zaaki - $1.85 - Top class WFA galloper right at his peak now third-up for this distance after a dominant win at the Sunny Coast despite having to work early

Roughie of the race: 12. Atishu - $11 - Chased home Zaaki third-up and did well to get within 2.6 lengths given the tempo of the race. Better suited over more ground, and she'll be finishing hard again.

Mick’s tips:

Best bet: 1. Zaaki - $1.85 - You can’t look past the champ Zaaki, he’ll roll forward and is as tough as old nails. He regressed 1L or so second up, but I expect him to bounce back to near his career peak third up.

Roughie of the race: 5. Zeyrek - $15

Matthew’s tips:

Best bet: 1. Zaaki - $1.85 - I’m not expecting a repeat of last year’s surprise loss. Gets up to 2000 metres after just doing enough to win the Hollindale and now third up, this is his comfort zone. Last time he was at this distance he won the G1 Mackinnon and his record in Queensland, apart from that surprise last year is near perfect. Best horse wins the race.

Roughie of the race: 12. Atishu - $11

Ladbrokes BRC Sprint - 3:57pm - 1350 metres - Doomben race 8

Neil’s tips:

Best bet: 9. Coal Crusher - $6.50 - Ultra tough Sydney five-year-old who continues to take the next step. Comes off a fighting BM 100 win at Rosehill, has since trialled, and drawn to take full advantage of his early tactical speed.

Roughie of the race: 12. Bacchanalia - $8 - Was good in the feature takeover Target at Gosford, and sneaks further down in the weights from the inside draw.

Mick’s tips:

Best bet: 12. Bacchanalia - $8 - He loves a rain-affected track, maps to sit leaders back for a soft run in transit and is the one to beat.

Roughie of the race: 13. Vinco - $41

Matthew’s tips:

Best bet: 1. Scallopini - $5.50 - Coming off a short spell where he won his last two runs impressively at 1400 metres. Excels when freshened so 1350m is ideal. Is the most versatile runner in the race who can win from 1200 to 1400 on any surface. With scratchings may come into barrier 7 or 8 so can push forward to take a sit just off leaders. If so, he will be in the finish.

Roughie of the race: 19. Brookspire - $15

ANZ Bloodstock News The Roses - 4:33pm - 2000 metres - Doomben race 9

Neil’s tips:

Best bet: 3. Renaissance Woman - $3.20 - High class Sydney filly right at her peak for this off the Sunny Coast win, and draws to get plenty of cover.

Roughie of the race: 6. Premise - $11 - Reloads six weeks between runs after finishing okay in the Group 1 ATC Oaks over 400m further, and has trialled recently.

Mick’s tips:

Best bet: 1. Fireburn - $5 - Happy to be against the favourite Renaissance Woman who will need a stack of luck in the run. Fireburn brings Sydney Group 1 form and will give a huge sight off a 42-day freshen. Her recent Warwick Farm trial suggests she’s in very good order

Roughie of the race: 11. Fall For Cindy - $19

Matthew’s tips:

Best bet: 3. Renaissance Woman - $3.20 - Inside barrier probably not ideal, but she has deserved favouritism for this after the very good win in the Bracelet on the Sunshine Coast. She is third up now and won the G3 Ethereal at Caulfield over this distance third up last prep. Can handle a wet track and rider Damien Thornton is in terrific form.

Roughie of the race: 13. Starliner - $21

The TAB Goodwood - 4:17pm - 1200 metres - Morphettville race 8

Neil’s tips:

Best bet: 4. Kallos - $8 - Exciting four-year-old who continues to progress. Unbeaten in three runs this prep as a gelding, beat a smart one last start, and peaks now at the trip

Roughie of the race: 10. Zoutori - $17 - Talented seven-year-old who draws well, and can peak second-up on a big weight drop.

Mick’s tips:

Best bet: 4. Kallos - $8 - He's returned a much better galloper as a gelding and looks well placed to claim his maiden group one. Already a group two and three winner, he possesses the turn of foot to sit off a hot tempo and put them away. From barrier four he maps to perfection and he'll give a huge sight.

Roughie of the race: 15. Mnementh - $41

Matthew’s tips:

Best bet: 9. Lofty Strike - $3.10 - You have to forgive his run on the bog track in the T J Smith and go on his two runs in the Oakleigh Plate and The Newmarket. In those races he ran second to Uncommon James and In Secret and beat home I Wish I Win. Only Giga Kick has form like this, and he would win this easily. The freshen up has been ideal and if he turns up on the day will beat these.

Roughie of the race: 17. Another Award - $8
