For the second time in as many games, the Oklahoma City Thunder will take on the Houston Rockets, as they look to improve upon their impressive record at home this season. 

OKC enters Tuesday’s action on a five-game winning streak, tied atop the Western Conference with the Minnesota Timberwolves at 40-17 on the season. 

Meanwhile, the Rockets are the No. 12 seed in the West and have gone a dreadful 5-22 straight up on the road. The team was unable to handle OKC on Sunday, losing by 13 points. 

Can the Thunder out themselves in position to take sole possession of the No. 1 seed in the West?

Fred VanVleet: Houston is just 1-6 when FVV doesn’t play this season, but the team picked up a win against Phoenix when he dropped 23 points. The veteran point guard followed that up with a 20-point game in a loss to the Thunder on Feb. 25. Can he lead Houston to a win on Tuesday? 

Oklahoma City Thunder

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: SGA torched Houston on Sunday, scoring 36 points on 13-of-23 shooting from the field. He also had 33 in the first meeting of the season with the Rockets, which was an OKC loss. On the season, the All-Star guard is averaging 31.2 points, 5.5 rebounds and 6.6 assists per game. 

Houston is the worst team in the NBA against the spread when set as a road underdog, going just 7-15-1 ATS this season. 

There’s no doubt that this team is a must-fade away from Toyota Center, as the Rockets have picked up just five total road wins all season. 

As for the Thunder, they continue to show that their dominance at home isn’t a fluke, moving to 17-7 ATS with an insane average margin of victory of 15.1 points in those games. 

Houston’s defense is top two in the NBA when at home, but the team drops into the bottom half of the league on the road. That won’t be good enough to keep up with an OKC team that is No. 2 in the NBA in net rating overall and at home. 

After watching the Thunder pick up a double-digit win on Sunday, I trust them to cover the 10.5 points in this one.
