Rockies vs. Guardians prediction and odds for Tuesday, April 25

Last night, the Colorado Rockies came into Cleveland and got back into the win column after losing three straight. The Guardians dropped Game 1 of this series to fall to 11-12, now two games back of first place in the AL Central. With the win the Rockies moved to 7-17, buried in last place in the NL West.

For Game 2 of this series, the Rockies will send Ryan Feltner with his 1-2 record and 6.16 ERA to the mound, and the Guardians will counter with Peyton Battenfield who has made two career starts, both this season, and has an 0-1 record with a 1.69 ERA. With two young right handers on the mound, let’s take a look at the odds for this interleague matchup in Cleveland.

Rockies vs. Guardians prediction and pick

Austin Gomber has been one of the worst pitchers in Major League Baseball this season and last night he blanked the Guardians for five innings. That’s a big concern for this Cleveland offense. I was worried about their production level against left-handed pitchers, but thought they’d be able to generate something. Now, they’ll be happy to see the right-handed Feltner on the bump. Feltner has the concerning 6.16 ERA, but he went 5.2 scoreless last time out and his 4.69 FIP could point to some positive regression.

Over the past week, the Guardians have a team OPS of .604 and against right-handed pitching, which they should hit much better, they have an OPS of .647 which is 26th in the MLB. Jose Ramirez leads the team in home runs with just three and his .792 OPS is the best on the Guardians. They don’t have much pop in the lineup, and they’re relying on a rookie pitcher today.

Battenfield has a 1.69 ERA, but a 3.88 FIP that says he could experience some regression. I think the Rockies have a good chance to win two straight in Cleveland.
