The third installment of the 2023 PFL regular season is underway this Friday night from Las Vegas. A key fight in the welterweight division is going to be between Sadibou Sy and Jarrah Al-Silawi. Both fighters are coming off a very solid 2022 season and look to make that leap to title contention in 2023.

Sy hasn’t lost a PFL regular season bout since 2019. He is coming off a solid unanimous decision victory over Dilano Taylor last November.

Sy is a 36-year-old former world champion kickboxer that fights out of Stockholm, Sweden. He has been in the mix every year for that welterweight PFL strap, including a quarterfinal or better finish in the years 2019-2021 and a middleweight semi-final finish in 2018. Also, six out of his eight PFL victories have come via KO.

This world-class kickboxer will be looking to work behind his elite leg kicks and will plan to break down his opponent over the 15-minute period.

In 2022, Sy almost landed as many leg kicks as he did arm strikes. 595 out of 1080 attempts landed for his leg strikes–that is going to be on top of the leaderboard for any MMA promotion he fights in.

This Georgian martial artist, Jarrah Al-Silawi, is one of the more interesting prospects in the PFL welterweight division. His toughness, along with his all-around skillset, seems to be a tough pair to get past in that PFL cage.

Last year, Al-Silawi started off 2-0 in the first half of the season. After maybe getting back in the cage a little too fast, Al-Silawi suffered a brutal first-round KO loss that ended his season.

Al-Silawi is in the middle of his athletic prime and looks to take over Las Vegas this Friday night. He has 12 finishes in his pro-MMA career, including five submissions.

No injuries have been reported to the PFL or NSAC.
