Hawaii vs. Oregon kicks off Saturday at 5 p.m. PT from Autzen Stadium. Last season, the Ducks went 5-1 at home and defeated its two non-P5 opponents by 77 total points.

Oregon earned an inspiring road victory vs. Texas Tech last week despite trailing 27-18 in the fourth quarter. The Ducks outscored the Red Raiders 20-3 in the fourth quarter, including a game-sealing pick-six from Jeffrey Bassa to avoid the upset.

Bo Nix has been phenomenal, as his 646 passing yards are the 12th most in FBS. Nix’s favorite target is Troy Franklin, with 209 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns, tied for the seventh most.

The Rainbow Warriors are 1-2 on the season with losses to Vanderbilt and Stanford. Hawaii’s only victory came by 11 points vs. FCS UAlbany.

Hawaii passes far more than the average college football team. Brayden Schager has 972 passing yards, 10 touchdowns, and five interceptions, while Rainbow Warrior ball carriers have 148 rushing yards on the year.

The Rainbow Warriors’ defense is no match for the Ducks’ high-flying offense. In Hawaii’s two matchups with FBS foes, its defense has allowed 253 passing yards and 2.5 passing touchdowns per game.

Oregon’s offense is far better than Vanderbilt and Stanford’s, meaning a long day is in store for Hawaii. The Rainbow Warriors lack quality pass rushers, considering the team has seven sacks on the season, and four came against UAlbany.

Bo will have plenty of time to sit in the pocket and hit open receivers.

When Nix and Ducks leading rusher Bucky Irving inevitably exit the game early once things are out of hand, Oregon’s backups will continue lighting up the scoreboard. In Ty Thompson’s lone appearance vs. Portland State, he completed 87% of his passes for 81 yards and a touchdown.

Hawaii’s pass-first offense is likely to put some points on the board, too. Not enough to keep pace with the Ducks, but enough to push the game total past 68 points.

Because Hawaii is so pass-reliant, incompletions are inevitable, leaving more time for Oregon to get back on the field and run the score up.
