Sheffield United vs. Man City Odds, Predictions & Betting Tips

The first of two televised Premier League matches on Sunday afternoon sees Sheffield United take on Manchester City at Bramall Lane. We’ve previewed the game which kicks off at 2pm BST and provided you with two tips which we think represent value in the betting markets.

Sheffield United were dealt a killer blow as a Chris Wood headed goal in added time crushed them to a 2-1 defeat at Nottingham Forest seven days ago. That result means Paul Heckingbottom’s side are yet to pick up any points after a loss against Crystal Palace on the opening weekend and their life in the top-tier won’t get any easier on Sunday as they welcome the Champions.

The loss of Kevin de Bruyne is a big blow to Manchester City with reports that the Belgian may be out of action for as many as four months. That has not stopped City winning their opening two league matches so far however, and most betting sites have already cut them into 4/7 to be the first club to win four consecutive Premier League titles.

Sheffield United vs Man City Tips

Man City to Win & John Egan 1+ Foul Committed

After needing penalties to see off Sevilla in the Super Cup in midweek, some people questioned how Manchester City would cope against a Newcastle side who had put five past Aston Villa the week prior.

In reality City showed their killer instinct against The Magpies with a commanding performance where they controlled the game, despite just a 1-0 scoreline. That result sent a reminder to the rest of the ‘big-seven’ of just how good the treble winners are and we don’t see them coming unstuck against a Sheffield United side that is arguably weaker than what it was in the Championship.

The Blades have been disappointing in the transfer market this summer.  The club have lost Iliman Ndiaye, and loanees Tommy Doyle, Ciaran Clark, Reda Khadra and James McAtee have all returned to their parent club, with Sander Berge also departing for Burnley.

City are priced at just 1/5 for the win on Sunday, but by adding in John Egan to give away 1+ foul via the Paddy Power bet builder feature, it takes us to a much more backable 19/20.

When these two sides met in the FA Cup semi-final in April, Egan committed two fouls. The defender has given away one in each of his Premier League games this season and will have to deal with Erling Haaland who has drawn three fouls in his last three appearances.

Oliver Norwood 2+ fouls committed & Rodri 1+ shot on target

At 9/1, we’ll also be having a small punt on Oliver Norwood to commit two or more fouls and Rodri to have one or more shots on target. Sky Bet go just 13/2 on this little double so we’d certainly recommend using Paddy Power here.

Oliver Norwood is another of the Sheffield United players who featured in the 3-0 semi-final defeat to Man City at the end of last season and is another who committed two fouls in the match. Paddy Power go 7/2 that we see a repeat at Bramall Lane and he clears the 2+ line which does look generous considering how many fouls we see City draw with players such as Jack Grealish, Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden.

In Manchester City’s opening league game against Burnley, no player on the pitch recorded more shots than Rodri, with three of his four attempts hitting the target.

In his last five starts, the Spaniard has recorded five shots on target. He scored the key goal which resulted in his side finally lifting the Champions League trophy in May and we’re backing him to be a prominent feature in the final third against Sheffield United to hopefully bring home this Bet Builder.
