The Yanks are fresh off a three-game sweep of the Houston Astros, while Detroit is coming off a three-game sweep of the Chicago White Sox. Oddsmakers have Detroit as a big underdog because Gerrit Cole, who is the favorite to win the American League Cy Young Award, is pitching for the Yankees. But, as you’ll see below, we like the chance to win at more than 2-to-1 odds.

Alex Faedo (2-5, 4.89 ERA, 48 K in 57 IP) vs. Gerrit Cole (12-4, 2.95 ERA, 188 K in 174 IP)

This will be the first appearance for Faedo against the Yankees. As a kid, Faedo grew up in Tampa watching the team during spring training. Now he has a chance to face the Bombers at the highest level. In the Bronx against a young, underperforming lineup, Faedo could show off his stuff and help Detroit defeat the presumptive Cy Young winner.

Cole seems like as much a lock as you can find in this matchup. In his last five games against Detroit, the big righthanded ace has a 1.69 ERA and a 3-0 record. Just six days ago he pitched six innings and allowed just two runs in a win over the Tigers in Detroit. Everything points to Cole taking on his 13th win against the Tigers Tuesday, but you know what they say about the best laid plans.

Last week in Detroit, Gleyber Torres hit three home runs against the Tigers. He’s batting .444 and a 1768 OPS in the last 10 days with four homers… Two young Yankee prospects. Jasson Dominguez and Anthony Volpe have two homers each in their last seven and three games respectively… When Miguel Caabrera has been in the lineup he’s been red-hot of late: seven hits (.389 BA) and three RBI in his most recent four games. This will be his final foray into New York, where the Yanks will present him with a retirement gift prior to Thursday’s finale.

It’s tough to beat the same team twice in a season, let alone within a week. Cole is a stud, a genuine No. 1 starter and ace. But we can’t resist those +205 odds from FanDuel, on Detroit to win straight up. Bet $50, win $102.50, or bet $100 and win $205.

These parlay odds are from FanDuel MI, which lists player props and game props for your parlay choices in their app or at their betting site. Odds are +785 (bet $100 and win $785 plus your stake).

  • Andre Lipcius 0.5-+ Hits
  • Spencer Torkelson to Record an RBI
  • Gerrit Cole 7+ Strikeouts
