What a 2023 tennis season we’ve had.
Carlos Alcaraz secured his first ever Wimbledon title against Novak Djokovic earlier this year, while the Serb dominated most of the year winning the three other Grand Slam titles.
Now we have one last tournament of 2023 involving the big guns, the ATP finals.
This year it’s held in Italy, on quick indoor hard courts.
ATP Finals Day 1 Tips
Jannik Sinner -2.5 Games
The first match of the finals sees the Italian Jannik Sinner take on Stefanos Tsitsipas.
The Italian has had the best year of his career, going an impressive 57-14 record and winning four ATP titles, including his first ever Masters title.
While Tsitsipas has struggled in 2023, winning just the one title in Los Cabos earlier this year.
The pair have faced each other two times already this year, with Sinner beating the Greek comfortably 6-4 6-3 in Rotterdam.
I'm surprised we're seeing such high odds for Sinner, who really should have the upper hand against Tsitsipas. The game spread for the Italian is a great look and I'll be backing him at -2.5 Games at 5/6 with Unibet.
Novak Djokovic/Holger Rune Over 21.5 Games
In the evening match, we have world number one Novak Djokovic against a relative out-of-form Holger Rune.
After his loss against Carlos Alcaraz in Wimbledon, the Dane really struggled to make a mark and went on a seven match losing streak (where he was the favourite in six of the seven).
He finally broke this after he beat Felix Auger-Aliassime in Beijing, but then lost his next three matches after that.
He started to find a bit of form in the indoor conditions, reaching the semi-final of Basel and the quarter-finals of the Paris Masters, where he lost out to Djokovic in a tight three-set battle.
Although I struggled to find some value in this match, the over 21.5 games is a nice look at 8/11 with bet365 considering the fast conditions and how Rune played in his match against the Serb.
