City can edge first leg in Manchester

The Cityzens are in form as they prepare to welcome Bundesliga frontrunners Bayern to the Etihad tonight.

A 4-1 Premier League victory at bottom club Southampton on Saturday made it eight wins on the bounce in all competitions and extended their unbeaten run of games to 12.

City have been in excellent home form this season, losing just one of their 24 matches at the Etihad in all competitions.

Winning 22 of those games, Pep Guardiola’s men have made the Etihad a fortress and an inconsistent Bayern could well struggle to come away from east Manchester with an advantage for the second leg.

The Germans are still adapting to life under new head coach Thomas Tuchel and have lost two of their previous four games in all competitions.

But the Bavarian giants are still a force to be reckoned with and should be able to get on the scoresheet on Tuesday night.

Bayern have scored in all of their past nine Champions League games and have the quality in attack to hurt City.

However, considering the hosts’ outstanding home record and the confidence in the squad at present, City are good value at 2/1 to win on Tuesday night with both teams finding the back of the net.

Haaland can cause Bayern problems once again

From his days at Borussia Dortmund, Erling Haaland knows just how difficult it is to overcome Bayern Munich.

The Norwegian international never managed to beat Bayern in his seven meetings against them while he was a BVB player.

However, that is not to say he did not impress in those games, with the bustling forward scoring five goals in those seven encounters.

Haaland is in great form going into this game and has scored the first goal in all of his previous four starts.

With that in mind, the striker is worth considering at 5/2 to bag the opening goal of the game on Tuesday night.

Tough game on the cards for Kimmich

With Bayern looking to try to keep things tight at the Etihad and win the midfield battle, Germany international Joshua Kimmich looks set for a busy night in this Champions League showdown.

A key figure in the middle of the park, Kimmich will be looking to create opportunities while also protecting his back four.

The 28-year-old picked up his seventh yellow card of the season across all competitions at the weekend as Bayern won 1-0 at Freiburg.

Kimmich, who has averaged 0.81 fouls per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga this term, will have to do plenty to stop City building from midfield and it would be little surprise to see him in the referee’s book once again.
