Brewers vs. Padres prediction and odds for Sunday, April 16 (Darvish bounces back)

The San Diego are looking to split their weekend series with the Milwaukee Brewers after dropping two of the first three games.

San Diego bounced back with a 10-run performance in a win on Saturday, but the team is off to a bit of a slow start overall, going 8-8 through its first 16 games.

Yu Darvish (0-1, 4.76 ERA) gets the ball for the Padres in this game against Milwaukee’s Wade Miley (1-1, 2.45 ERA).

Let’s dive into the odds and a best bet for this matchup:

Darvish didn’t look great in his last start, allowing five runs across 6.1 innings against the New York Mets, but he’s still the better pitcher in this game.

Miley has looked good over his first two starts, but he still ranks in the 34th percentile in expected ERA and 30th percentile in opponent expected batting average. He also doesn’t miss a ton of bats, ranking in the 10th percentile in strikeout percentage.

That could be a problem against this Padres offense, which currently ranks ninth in MLB in OPS against left-handed pitching.

The Brewers tagged San Diego’s starters early in this series, but Darvish is a massive upgrade on the bump for the Friars.

I’ll back SD to split the series with a win on Sunday.
