Week 3 of the college football season is upon us, delivering three matchups standing out as having significant upset potential.

Our Week 2 upset picks successfully predicted Washington State defeating Wisconsin, and the Week 3 matchups on upset watch should come down to the wire as well. Tennessee is coming off a 30-13 win over FCS Austin Peay that was less than impressive. The Governors hung with the Volunteers through two quarters, trailing only 13-6 before Tennessee pulled away.

Tennessee failed to score a touchdown until there was 15 seconds remaining in the second quarter. Joe Milton is one of the most physically gifted QBs in the nation but doesn’t appear to be talented enough to lead the Volunteers to the College Football Playoff.

Florida is also flawed, losing to Utah 24-11 in Week 1, but rebounded nicely in Week 2, taking down McNeese 49-7. The Gators leaned heavily on its rushing attack in the victory, gaining 327 yards and six touchdowns.

This will be Tennessee’s first difficult test of the year and it comes on the road, with the Gators hosting the matchup at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

Despite losing Deuce Vaughn, the player with the second-most rushing yards in Kansas State history, to the NFL, the Wildcats have performed well through two weeks. Kansas State is 2-0 with a +81 point differential, but one win came over an FCS school, and the other is a member of the Sun Belt.

With no games vs. formidable opponents, the Wildcats’ 2023 potential remains unclear.

Missouri hasn’t faced any threatening teams either but is undefeated on the season. Cody Schrader has been impressive for the Tigers, rushing for 222 total yards. Missouri also deploys a bonafide WR1 in Luther Burden, who has 213 total receiving yards.

The Tigers also have the advantage of welcoming the Wildcats into Memorial Stadium. Expect the Missouri faithful to play a key role in an upset victory.

Missouri took Georgia down to the wire in 2022, narrowly losing to the Bulldogs 26-22.

After imposing victories vs. Western Carolina and Kent State, Arkansas received 33 votes in the AP Top 25 poll but remain unranked heading into Week 3. K.J. Jefferson provides a reliable starter at QB for the Razorbacks, competing in his fifth season in Fayetteville.

BYU has started 2023 on a high note as well, notching two wins by 39 total points. Following a trying 2022 season at Pittsburgh, Kedon Slovis has excelled early for the Cougars, throwing for 348 yards and four touchdowns in a dominant victory vs. Southern Utah.

The Cougars are no stranger to playing spoiler after defeating No. 9 Baylor 26-20 last season. BYU also came close to taking down Notre Dame in South Bend but fell short to the Fighting Irish 28-20.
