NASCAR Cup Series: NOCO 400 Betting Preview and Prediction

Bristol rarely disappoints, and last weekend on the dirt was no exception, with drivers drifting around corners and spinning and chaos across the track. In the end, Christopher Bell – a betting preview regular – emerged from the chaos to win the 2023 Food City Dirt Race, his fifth career Cup Series victory.

The NASCAR Cup Series heads back to Virginia and short tracks with the NOCO 400 this weekend. We’ll review the odds, recent performances, and the drivers’ recent performances at Martinsville in our NOCO 400 betting preview.

Before we make our NOCO 400 betting picks, we need to review the NASCAR odds.

Here are our favorite drivers’ for this weekend’s NASCAR Cup Series picks:

NASCAR Cup Series: NOCO 400 | 400 Laps (210.4 mi)

Location of the race: Martinsville Speedway, Ridgeway, VA.

Date and Time: Sunday, April 16th, 2023, 3:00 PM ET.

How to Watch: FS1 | NASCAR Live

Martinsville has a long-established spot on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule dating back to 1950. Five current Cup Series drivers have previously won the Spring race.

Joe Gibbs Racing-Toyota’s Denny Hamlin is the winningest active driver at Martinsville, scoring three wins at Martinsville (2008, 2010, 2015).

Hamlin’s Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Martin Truex Jr. scored back-to-back wins in 2020 and 2021.

RFK Racing-Ford’s Brad Keselowski also has two wins at Martinsville; scoring wins in 2017 and 2019.

Recent results on the NASCAR schedule haven’t been great, but Hendrick Motorsports-Chevrolet’s William Byron has been mostly impressive this season and will be looking to win his third race of the season and score back-to-back wins at Martinsville, having won the 2022 edition.

Perennial fan favorite Richard Childress Racing-Chevrolet’s Kyle Busch won at Martinsville in 2016.

In previous NASCAR betting previews, we’ve spoken about how impressed we’ve been with Joe Gibbs Racing-Chevrolet’s Christopher Bell this season. Bell currently sits atop the NASCAR standings after his win on the Dirt at Bristol last weekend.

The win was Bell’s fifth top-five finish this season and his sixth top-ten. In six Cup Series races at Martinsville, Bell has one win, two top-ten finishes, and an average finishing position of 14.7. Although, his Martinsville win came in NASCAR’s Fall trip to Martinsville.

Team Penske-Ford’s Joey Logano is coming off a Truck Series win but a 37th-place finish at Bristol. Logano has three top five-finishes, six top tens, and an average finishing position of 5.2 in six races at Martinsville.

Hendrick Motorsports William Byron’s one-race win at Martinsville is accompanied by three top-five and three top-ten finishes and an average finishing position of 10th.

Hendrick Teammate Kyle Larson was looking strong at Bristol, winning stage 1 and poised to win his second straight race, but losing his race to contact and spins in the later stages. In Larson’s last four races at Martinsville, he has two top-five finishes and an average finishing position of 10.0.

Joe Gibbs Racing-Toyota’s Martin Truex Jr. is a short track specialist having nine top ten finishes in the last 16 short track races, and with two wins at Martinsville, Truex Jr. will be among the betting favorites this weekend.

Truex Jr. has two top-ten finishes this season, but in the previous six races at Martinsville, Truex Jr. has three top-five and four top-ten finishes and an 11.7 average finishing position.

If we are picking one driver for our NOCO 400 betting preview to win:

  • We’re taking Team Penske-Ford’s Joey Logano (+950).
