NBA player props: Best bets for Friday, January 5 featuring Joel Embiid, Bam Adebayo, Marcus Smart

We have jam-packed slate of NBA action to look forward to this evening with 14 games tipping off. Nearly every team in the league will be taking the floor tonight and that presents plenty of opportunities to hit on player props courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook. We’ll go over some of our favorites below.

Joel Embiid triple-double vs. Knicks (+950)

The reigning MVP returned from a four-game absence on Tuesday and immediately got busy for the Philadelphia 76ers against the Chicago Bulls. He delivered a triple-double in just 31 minutes, producing 31 points, 15 assists, and 10 rebounds in a 110-97 victory. The Sixers host the New York Knicks tonight and with 19 assists over his last two games, I think Embiid can deliver enough dimes to come through with another triple-double effort tonight.

Bam Adebayo over 10.5 rebounds vs. Suns (+110)

The Miami Heat will wrap up their West Coast road trip when visiting the Phoenix Suns tonight and this is an opportunity for Adebayo to once again crack double-double digit boards. He’s averaging 10.3 for the year and had a five-game streak of 11+ rebounds before only pulling down seven against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday. Even going up against a Suns team that has been effective at limiting boards as of late, I’ll go with the over on Adebayo’s rebound total.

Julius Randle under 1.5 3-pointers vs. 76ers (+110)

Randle has been a scoring machine for the Knicks as of late, putting up 35+ in three of their last four games. He’s been hit or miss from downtown during that stretch, going 6-22 from three over those four games. It won’t get any easier for him on that front when facing a 76ers team that has limited opponents to an average of just nine threes on 30% shooting over their last 10 games. I’ll go with the under on Randle’s threes tonight.

Marcus Smart over 1.5 steals vs. Lakers (+100)

Smart has shown a nice sleight of hand with an average of 2.5 steals per game for the Memphis Grizzlies this year and he swiped five against the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday. Tonight, the Grizzlies face a Lakers team that has been yielding an average of eight steals per game over their last 10 games. I’m hammering the over on Smart steals tonight.

Cameron Johnson over 15.5 points vs. Thunder (+100)

The Brooklyn Nets will host the Oklahoma City Thunder this evening and there’s a chance for Johnson another productive night on offense here. He’s averaging 15 points per game this season and has been hitting that average for the past week. A good chunk of those points have come from downtown and he’s facing a Thunder team that has given up an average of 14.1 threes over their last 10 games. I’m taking the over on Johnson’s point total.
