I’ll probably take a stab on the Diamondbacks here. Pfaadt had a couple of sketchy starts earlier this month, posting seven earned in a span of 9.2 innings. In his last start however, Pfaadt posted a win over the Cubs with 5.1 clean frames, four hits and one walk. If he can carve out a quality start against the flailing Yankees offense here, the Diamondbacks will be set up well down the stretch. On Thursday New York’s bats were able to deliver a much-needed quality day; everyone in the lineup got on base at least once. New York had just four runs across their previous three games however, so there’s a chance the offense goes to sleep again in this opener.
