In game two New York had a couple of sketchy pitching performances from Carlos Rodon (6.1 innings; three earned) and Randy Vasquez (2.1 innings; two earned) on the way to the loss, and the offense couldn’t do much of anything to help outside of a late Judge RBI. New York has now officially been eliminated from playoff contention for the first time since 2016.

I might take a stab on the Diamondbacks here. Kelly has one bad start and two good ones in his last trio. In the bad one Kelly put up 5.0 innings with seven earned in a loss to the Mets. In the other pair Kelly has a combined 12.1 innings, two earned, seven hits and eight walks for a 1-0 record. If he can manage a quality start here, Arizona will be set. In Sunday’s game, the Diamondbacks made the most out of eight team hits and really came on strong late against the Yankees’ bullpen. That makes six or more runs in six of the last seven games for Arizona, and I like them to keep it up in the rubber match for a series victory.
