No. 11 Penn State Football Opens As 5.5-Point Underdog To No. 3 Michigan

For just the second time this season, the Nittany Lions are underdogs.

After last week’s emphatic bounce-back win over Maryland, Penn State football will return to Happy Valley to take on the undefeated Michigan Wolverines, a game that is shaping up to have massive Big Ten Championship and College Football Playoff implications.

Against the Terrapins, Penn State football covered the spread by nearly 25 points, bringing the Nittany Lions back into the win column against the spread to total 7-2 on the season.

Penn State’s offensive barrage allowed it to hit the over on its own, making it 6-3 on the season in that category.

This week, the blue and white will take on a much more formidable opponent in the Michigan Wolverines. FanDuel currently has the spread set at 5.5 points in favor of the Wolverines, paired with the over-under set at 44.5 points.

The last time the Nittany Lions came into a game as underdogs, they dropped a one-score game to the Ohio State Buckeyes, failing to cover the spread.

In its last 10 contests, Penn State is 4-6 head-to-head against Michigan and a disappointing 3-7 against the spread.

However, so far this season, Michigan is a subpar 4-4-1 against the spread in its previous nine victories.

The game will kick off at noon on Saturday, November 11, at Beaver Stadium and will be broadcast on FOX.
