The Miami Dolphins lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in Germany before their bye week but are still top of the AFC East as they return home to host the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. The Raiders have won two straight games to take them to .500 and get them into the AFC wildcard race.

The Dolphins’ high-flying offense may have faltered against Kansas City, but they are still one of the best units in the NFL and the Dolphins are still one of the best teams in the NFL period. Not only that, they’re well-rested after a bye.

Some have suggested that Miami’s strong record this season is a little misleading as none of its six victories has come against a team with a winning record. The Dolphins are 6-0 against teams with a losing record, and 0-3 versus winning teams, having lost to the Bills, the Eagles, and most recently the Chiefs.

There won’t be can change to that narrative this week, as the visiting Raiders are .500 at 5-5.

Las Vegas is riding the momentum of back-to-back victories, with a thrilling 16-12 win over the Jets last Sunday night.

But to say this is the Raiders biggest test under interim head coach Antonio Pierce is an understatement. Not only are they hitting the road with Pierce in the hot seat, they’re facing the league’s top-ranked offense on hostile ground. That’s a whole different ballgame after Pierce’s team won against the 32nd-ranked Giants’ offense in Week 9 and the 29th-ranked Jets last time out.

A win would push Miami closer to a potential first AFC East title since 2008 and would put them firmly in the driving seat to make the playoffs in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 1999 and 2000.

Kickoff at Miami Gardens’ Hard Rock Stadium is at noon CT live on CBS.

The Dolphins are huge favorites. In fact, they entered the week as the heaviest favorite on the odds boards in Week 11. That won’t faze them, though, as they’re 6-3-0 ATS this season and have won twice as similar-spread favorites earlier this year.

But, while Miami’s defense isn’t as dominant as its offense, which is No.1 in the land with a massive 435.3 yards per game, the Dolphins’ secondary should be strong enough with the Raiders’ Josh Jacobs not as effective this season.

The Dolphins are 4-0 in Miami and are free-scoring in the process, racking up 174 points across that quartet of home games, averaging an impressive 44 points per game.

Las Vegas has hit the Under in its last three games and seven of its last eight, but this one has big points potential. The Dolphins will score a lot on Sunday but tend to give up points when they cover the spread, allowing the Giants to score 16 and the Panthers to hit 21. Las Vegas has enough wherewithal to put some points on the board in defeat, even if they can’t stop Tua Tagovailoa and Co.

Speaking of Tua, while Las Vegas has upped its game since the firing of Josh McDaniels and has a defense that is eighth-best against the pass, the Dolphins and Tagovailoa need a rebound after their German disappointment and will be as fired up as we’ll have seen them all year.

Tagovailoa has accumulated 2,609 passing yards and 19 touchdowns so far this year, supported by top-tier receivers like Tyreke Hill, who boasts 1,076 yards and eight touchdowns. The Dolphins’ offense is formidable and Tua has hit the passing yards Over in eight of his last nine games.
