Naturally, the Hendrick Motorsports Racing looked great for quite awhile at Charlotte and even Illinois. However, Kyle Larson took a long while to get going. Eventually, he finished fourth but the first half of the race was anything but pleasant. Last year at Sonoma, Larson got caught out in a bad pit stop and a few issues as he slipped from the top spot early and outside the top ten. Expect Hendrick to be 1-2 in qualifying. Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson tested that way earlier in the year.

So, Caesars Sportsbook drops some slightly different numbers. For one, Tyler Reddick is +500, but Kyle Busch lies at +800 while Chris Buescher lurks at +2000. Buescher likes this Sonoma road course but. Early speed favors Larson, Byron, and the Hendricks but late speed intervals may bring the Fords and a Chevy or two into focus.

2021* – The race was under the 2.52 mile layout. 2022 and 2023 are under the 1.99 err more or less two mile layout.

Chevy Chevy and More Chevy with a Twist or Two

While Hendrick is considered likely to win again, should they? NASCAR Cup Series odds still rides with Chevy (five of the top six drivers now). That is led by Kyle Larson and now Kyle Busch. Denny Hamlin and William Byron are right there along with Ross Chastain.

Correlation is interesting here. Sonoma is more like a technical road course. Think of a place like Watkins Glen plus COTA and that is why Tyler Reddick (+500 on Caesars) has to be watched. Keep in mind how drivers race in all road courses too. Cooler track conditions should be monitored too.

Practice begins Saturday evening with a 60-minute session. Saturday qualifying begins at 6:00 pm ET. Expect easier track conditions.

Toyota Save Mart 350 from Sonoma Predictions & Picks

So, Saturday and Sunday look mild and dry. That is great news. Expect qualifying as Sunday temperatures will be in the lower 70’s.

Can Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, and William Byron stay up front? Better yet, does Trackhouse make an impact like last year? After all, Daniel Suarez won the race. Kyle Larson seeks revenge and may just get it. At the very least, take his odds for the pole.

Again, the weather will be close to perfect! For head-to-head driver matchups, Daniel Suarez over Ross Chastain at -105. Keep an eye for more on social media this weekend.
