Bet $5 on College Football, get $200 in DraftKings bonus bets

The DraftKings Game of the Week for College Football Week 9 is a classic SEC matchup: the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs vs. the Florida Gators. Georgia is still undefeated and holding onto their top spot in the AP Poll. Florida isn’t in the top 20, but they do have the best record they’ve brought to this rivalry game in three years: 5-2.

The Bulldogs are 14.5-point favorites in the matchup. Here are the game odds from DraftKings Sportsbook.

The Georgia Bulldogs have dominated the “Cocktail Party”

Georgia is powering through college football this year, with seven wins overall and four in conference play. They’ve also won five of their last six games against the Gators – a classic SEC rivalry known as the Cocktail Party.

The Dawgs have won their past two head-to-heads against Florida by double digits. But this isn’t the same Georgia team. They’re not quite as strong as the title-winning Bulldogs of the past two years.

Tight-end Brock Bowers is out for the next few weeks with an ankle injury. He’s been the Bulldogs’ leading receiver for three seasons now. When he’s not operating at his best in a game, you can see it in the score.

In Georgia’s 42-20 win over Florida last season, Bowers caught five times for 154 yards and a touchdown. It was the most receiving yards any Georgia player has ever had against Florida.

Georgia’s defense, on the other hand, has allowed opponents to score on 73% of their red-zone possessions. And they’re just 1-5 against the spread.

But the Florida Gators can keep it close

Don’t get it twisted: We think Georgia has this win in the bag. But we also think the spread is too generous considering what this Florida team has done so far this year.

Although unranked in the AP Poll, the Gators are third in the SEC East with a 3-1 record in conference play. They’ve won two straight since losing to Kentucky, and they already have a win over a ranked Tennessee team.

Plus, they’re facing this like the intense rivalry it always is:

Florida’s offense is starting to improve with transfer QB Graham Mertz connecting with his targets like Eugene Wilson II and Arlis Boardingham. They’ve combined for 26 catches, 301 yards, and four TDs in just the past two games.

With Bowers out, we think Florida can play a pretty good game.

Georgia vs. Florida best bet: Florida against the spread (-112 on DraftKings)

On paper, Georgia is a far stronger team – but they just haven’t looked as dominant in game play as their record suggests. Without their most important offensive weapon, a 14.5-point spread is a little optimistic for the Dawgs.

We think Florida covers on Saturday.
