John Deere Classic betting tips: Cameron Young in the mix for win, Chris Kirk an each-way shout

Golf tipster Martin Colwell feels Cameron Young is finding some form ahead of this week's John Deere Classic - but has also picked out some tasty each-way options to consider backing.

On the USGA Tour we head to tractor country for the John Deere Classic, at TPC Deere Run, Silvis, Illinois. A par 71 measuring 7,257 yards in length.

This is usually a low-scoring birdie-fest. A bentgrass course that only has three water hazards. There has been rain in the area and so the course appears lush. Course experience has paid off in past years here. Temperatures should be around 80 degrees.

JT Poston is our defending champion.

The in-form Denny McCarthy is the joint favourite in this weak field at 16/1. The top putter in the world at present, if he can find the green in regulation, he must go close to winning.

Russell Henley is also 16/1. A top ball striker who does struggle with the putter. If you combine the best of these two you would have a top golfer.

At 18/1 is Cameron Young. Off his game at present but finding his form again a bit in recent times. If Young can find his form of 2022, then he surely wins this tournament.

We then jump in odds to 25/1 bar the above three.

Other golfers to consider - Adam Hadwin is in form and the 25/1 you can get looks worth taking this week.

After his experience of a few weeks ago when he got rugby tackled by a steward when trying to celebrate Nick Taylor's win, Hadwin contended in the play-off last week and would likely win this tournament based upon that form.

Chris Kirk won on this tour at the end of February. His form then dropped off a bit but is coming back, I think. 28/1 looks fair enough in this field.

Adam Schenk is also in good form and could easily win one of these weaker field tournaments. Another 28/1 shot.

The defending champion JT Poston can be supported at 35/1. Not currently in the best of form, he would need to be revitalised by returning to a course where he was victorious in 2022.

Stephen Jaeger has been playing well in recent times and has been a regular in the top 20 finishers. This weakened field gives him the chance to get a win. 33/1 is OK each way in this field.

Dylan Wu is having a good season and shows up on the leaderboard, but then finds a poor round on the weekend. So that is something he needs to eliminate which hopefully comes with experience. The 80/1 available this week is worth a go if you like outsiders.

As this course is very scoreable, as we have had the past two weeks, the outlook for a winner becomes more open than on a difficult course. But I think that we have to stick with the guys showing some decent form.
