The game starts at 6:00 p.m. CT and can be seen on FS1.

This is the fifth game of the season for both schools. The Sooners are coming off another dominant defensive performance against Big 12 newcomer the Cincinnati Bearcats. Iowa State is coming off a big win over conference foe the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

This is a game the Sooners have to be ready for and not looking ahead to next week. Iowa State comes in with a top-20 defense. In recent years, that defense has given fits to the Oklahoma Sooners offense. This year’s offense is far from historic and has displayed some inconsistencies. In addition to their strong defensive efforts, Iowa State seemed to find some footing a week ago in their win over Oklahoma State.

This game could get a little tricky.

Advice and prediction

The 19.5 points is a number I would absolutely stay away from. I am predicting the Sooners to cover, but I don’t feel great about it. With the inconsistency on offense combined with a great Iowa State defense, I just don’t trust the Sooners to improve upon their 4-0 record against the spread.

I think your best bet would be to take the under. I think this will be a relatively low-scoring game for both schools, and the under seems like the safest of bets.

The Sooners were 5-8 against the spread in 2022 but are 4-0 to start the 2023 season.

Prediction: 27-6. Sooners cover but don’t hit the over.
