The game starts at 5:00 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN+.

This is the second game of the season for both schools. The Sooners are coming off a dominant 73-0 performance against the Arkansas State Red Wolves, where the offense and defense flashed. SMU brings in a high-powered offense that is fresh off a 38-14 win over the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs.

This is arguably one of the four best offenses the Sooners will face all season. It makes for a good challenge to see what kind of improvement the Sooners’ defense made this offseason.

Advice and prediction

The 15.5-point spread seems like a really good number. This is one I would expect Oklahoma to cover. The Sooners’ offense should be able to score in the 40s or even more if they are able to dominate like many think they can.

The defense is where things get interesting. I fully expect SMU to get into the 20s on the Sooners’ defense which would still be a good performance. Anything less than 20 would be a great one.

Between the three bets, I think your best bet would be to take the over. That number is a little too low for two really good offenses.

The Sooners were 6-6-1 against the point total a year ago but are 1-0 to start the 2023 season.

Prediction: 48-24. Sooners cover, and they hit the over.
