The game starts at 11:00 a.m. and can be seen on ESPN.

This is the first game of the season for both schools. The Sooners are coming off a disappointing 6-7 season a year ago but feel with the players they’ve added, a bounce-back season is in order.

The Sooners finished eighth in the Big 12 conference but were picked to finish third this season. The Red Wolves went 3-9, which put them in last place in “Group B” of the Sun Belt Conference. This year they are picked to finish sixth out of seven in that grouping but have added the top class in the conference the previous two seasons.

Advice and prediction

When a number is that high, it’s usually best to just stay away from it. 35.5 is a ton of points and Oklahoma was a team that struggled a year ago and still has a lot to prove. The Sooners were 5-8 against the spread last season.

I would bet Oklahoma doesn’t cover that spread but narrowly misses. This is simply due to how high that number is and the likelihood the backups see a lot of playing time.

The over-under 58.5 seems promising as an under-pick if you are high on Oklahoma’s defense this season. The Sooners were 6-6-1 against the point total a year ago, so hard to gauge how this team will do in 2023.

Prediction: 45-10. Sooners fail to cover or hit the point total.
