Premier League Summer Series Odds, Free Picks & Betting Tips

Two premier EPL clubs will meet on American soil when Chelsea and Newcastle duke it out in Atlanta. This match is sure to see plenty of offense, and our betting picks believe Christopher Nkunku will be one of many to find the back of the net.

Wednesday’s Newcastle vs Chelsea game at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta gives us a blue-chip Premier League matchup as these two huge clubs meet in preseason action. Newcastle exceeded expectations last season but have been quiet in the transfer window while Chelsea have already made several big signings.

One of those signings includes Christopher Nkunku, and my betting picks believe he'll leave his mark in this matchup. Don’t miss my Newcastle vs Chelsea picks and predictions to find out more.

Chelsea vs Newcastle picks and predictions

On Wednesday we get another big preseason clash in the U.S. with Newcastle vs Chelsea in Atlanta. This all-Premier League encounter sees two of the most interesting clubs in the league meet ahead of a defining season for both of them.

My best bet for Wednesday’s game features one of Chelsea’s new signings, the talented Christopher Nkunku. The 25-year-old Frenchman arrived at Stamford Bridge from RB Leipzig in a $66 million deal and already looks like a smart addition to a squad that struggled to find the back of the net last year.

Nkunku has scored in both of his preseason appearances so far and I'm backing him to bag another one against Newcastle at +175 — a very generous price for a preseason matchup. Nkunku is a fantastic talent who is versatile and can play across the frontline in any forward position. He found the back of the net 16 times in 25 Bundesliga appearances last season, which is extra impressive given he suffered a serious injury before the World Cup in Qatar and took some time to get back to his best.

In Pochettino’s system, it looks like Nkunku could already be one of the players to prosper. Either down the middle or behind the front man, he can cause Newcastle problems with his dribbling and his movement will allow him to get into dangerous positions to score.

This Newcastle backline was great during last season but we need to remember that this still is a friendly game and they’re unlikely to be at their very best after returning from their summer vacations. With that in mind, I think we’re likely to see Nkunku get in plenty of positions to score, which should give us a great chance of hitting the goal at +175.

My best bet: Christopher Nkunku to score (+175 at bet365)

Nkunku to score

Both teams to score

Over 1.5 goals in second half

The first leg features my best bet of the game, that Christopher Nkunku will score. I won’t go through all of the reasoning again but just remember that he finished last season in the Bundesliga in great form and has started his Chelsea career with two goals in two games. He’s a serious talent and their best attacking option.

Next, I’ll be backing both teams to score. We saw last year that Newcastle have some hugely talented attacking players, and given that it’s a preseason warmup game and we know that Chelsea have defensive injuries, Newcastle will be in position to score here.

The final leg of my SGP is Over 1.5 second-half goals. Games generally see more goals in the second half than the first and that’s something that rings extra true in preseason friendlies where we see a huge amount of rotation. Both teams will start with strong lineups, but we’re very likely to see young players and squad players introduced in the second half which should increase the chances of seeing more goals.

Chelsea vs Newcastle Over/Under analysis

Newcastle vs Chelsea feels like one of those rare games when there’s a strong argument to back nearly any outcome on the moneyline. Newcastle finished above Chelsea last season and are underdogs here at +162, and I could understand you backing them.

Personally, I’d take Chelsea at +140 which I think offers better value. Chelsea have impressed in preseason and they now have a genuinely elite coach at the helm. The draw comes in at +240, and given the quality on display, I can't really say that’s a bad price either.

When it comes to total goals we have Over 2.5 clocking in at just -143, which feels like a steal to me. I think we’ll see plenty of goals here and that price would be a lot shorter if it wasn’t for Newcastle having a great defensive record last season. When it comes to preseason I think you need to pay a lot less attention to defensive records because teams play far looser at the back. For that reason, I’d be smashing that Over 2.5 goals for Wednesday’s game.
