September 5 horse racing tips for Bangor-On-Dee and Goodwood

Top tipster Ed Quigley aka 'Longshot Ted' provides his best bets for the action at Bangor-On-Dee and Goodwood on Tuesday.

Ted's bets for Tuesday, September 5:

  • Bangor-on-Dee 1.50 - One Touch - bet with Tote
  • Goodwood 2.10 - Louis Quatorze e/w - bet with Spreadex
  • Bangor-On-Dee 3.35-Northern Bound - bet with bet365

Bangor-On-Dee 1.50 - One Touch

This could be a big afternoon for Cotswolds handler Ben Pauling, and the unexposed 9-year-old ONE TOUCH looks to have major claims upped in trip to 2m7f for this assignment. The gelding was in fine fettle last summer, notching up back-to-back successes, including when bolting up at this venue. After almost a year off the track, he made an eye-catching comeback at Newton Abbot in July, when travelling well for a long way before understandably fading in the closing stages. You would think he should strip much fitter and benefit for that outing and should be primed for a big performance here. The step up in distance should suit perfectly, and with Kielan Woods on board, the combination look the ones to beat, with underfoot conditions to suit.

Goodwood 2.10 - Louis Quatorze (e/w)

Kevin Stott and David Menusier team up with LOUIS QUATORZE who ran a nice race on debut in a Deauville maiden, finishing fifth, and should have a lot more to offer here. It was soft ground and 7f on debut, and he acquitted himself well. Being a New Bay colt out of a Lope De Vega mare, a bit of cut in the ground and the step up to 1m should both be factors that combine to bring about improvement. You would also imagine that this individual will have learnt a great deal from his first racecourse experience. He is clearly well regarded, as he holds entries in the likes of the Royal Lodge and the Dewhurst, so it wouldn't be a surprise here if he started to back up his lofty reputation. In a race with many unknown quantities, he looks an exciting type full of potential, and gets the each-way nod from myself in this encounter.

Bangor-On-Dee 3.35 - Northern Bound

The Ben Pauling team are in fine fettle at present, and NORTHERN BOUND looks to have a leading chance of replicating last year's success in this race. The gelding loves this venue, so a return to this track is a big fillip - which is also the case for the return to the larger obstacles. A tune-up over Hurdles last month should have him in tip-top order to try and defend his crown. Purely from a handicapping perspective, he is now starting to look well treated, as he arrives here running off a BHA rating off 130 - that is now 3lb lower than when scoring at Newbury last November. This is a quality little contest with Go On Chez, Vintage Fizz and the impressive Big Jetaway all coming here with chances. If Northern Bound can bring his A-game to the table, there is no denying he is well-treated and a return to the winners' enclosure shouldn't be far away.

Don't forget Ed will be back on Saturday with all his best bets for the weekend's action!
