Tigers vs. Reds: Odds, picks and predictions 9/13/23

The Detroit Tigers are favored at -145 on the moneyline against the Cincinnati Reds for Wednesday night’s game at Comerica Park. Ace lefty Eduardo Rodriguez will have the ball in his hand to start the game.

New customers of BetMGM Sportsbook are eligible for their choice of two different welcome offers. A first bet offer to get up to $1,500 paid back in Bonus Bets if that wager fails to win, or the “Bet $10, Get $200 in Bonus Bets”. That’s right: deposit and wager as little as $10 and you get $200 before your bet even settles.

Other offers are available as well, and our Michigan Sportsbook Roundup has all of the details to assist you in making your choices for the best betting apps for baseball or whichever sport you love to follow.

The Tigers took it on the chin Tuesday, losing 6-5 in extra innings to the Reds, who are battling for a playoff spot in the National League. But ERod’s presence on the mound has led to Detroit being the favored team for the second game of this three-game set.

Game details

  • Who: Detroit Tigers vs. Cincinnati Reds
  • When: Wednesday, September 13
  • Time: 6:40 p.m. ET
  • Where: Comerica Park (Detroit, MI)

Eduardo Rodriguez (11-7, 3.18 ERA, 127 K in 130.1 IP) vs. Connor Phillips (0-0, 9.64 ERA, 7 K per 4.2 IP)

Every time Rodriguez takes his turn in the rotation the Tigers have an excellent chance to win. Since August 2, Detroit is 5-2 in his starts, and the southpaw has quality starts in each of those five wins. This season he’s 2-1 in three starts against National League teams.

But each time Rodriguez toes the rubber he’s also one start closer to being an ex-Tiger. The left-hander can opt out of his contract at the conclusion of this season, allowing him to enter the free agent market. Given that financially rewarding possibility, ERod is highly motivated to pitch well down the stretch. Essentially, he’s auditioning for 29 other teams. Which is why we like the Tigers chances to win on Wednesday night.

Texas-born Phillips made his MLB debut only eight days ago. He’s a thick right-hander with a sweeper and a cutter that moves in on right-handed batters. The Reds have high hopes for Phillips, but he was battered in his debut, allowing a pair of homers and five runs in 4 ⅔ innings last week against the Mariners.

We won our Bet of the Day on Tuesday, to the tune of $100. Today, we again like the run line, giving up 1 ½ runs to the Reds. Rodriguez has a chance to stymie the Cincinnati lineup, which has very little history against him (18 plate appearances combined against the lefty).

Our same-game parlay was crafted by the SGP Builder in the BetMGM mobile app. This is a three-leg parlay consisting of player props for three Tigers notables. If all three legs hit, a $1-- bet would pay out $1450.

A same-game parlay is a great way to wager on a baseball game. It consists of individual bets bundled together in one big bet. In order to win, you must be successful on each of the bets (called “legs”) of the parlay. Lose just one leg, and the parlay falls flat. A parlay bet is lucrative because the odds for all the bets inside of it lead to much higher odds than the individual wagers. In that way, you can create a bet that could pay you big for one game. Even a $10 bet can pay out huge for a parlay if you are successful.

  • Kerry Carpenter To Record An RBI
  • Parker Meadows To Steal A Base
