Yankees lose lottery ticket pitcher to Blue Jays
The Blue Jays have claimed Junior Fernandez off waivers from the Yankees. The Yankees designated Fernandez for assignment on Dec. 21. Fernandez has limited MLB experience, making 50 appearances over parts of four seasons. He has a career 5.17 ERA in the majors and 4.12 ERA at Triple-A.
Omar Minaya has been appointed as the Yankees' new senior advisor to baseball operations. Minayas has almost four decades of front office experience. He started his career with the Texas Rangers in 1985. After working for the New York Mets from 1997-2002, he was appointed Vice President and General Manager of the Montreal Expos in 2002. In 2004, Minrayas was named General manager of New Yorks Mets.
