2023 AT&T Byron Nelson odds, picks, field: Surprising PGA predictions, bets from model that nailed nine majors

Aaron Wise withdrew from the Masters to prioritize his mental health and has not played since the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, but he is set to return for the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson beginning on Thursday. Wise was the 2018 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year and won this tournament during that season, which is his lone PGA Tour title. He is a 40-1 longshot in the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson odds at Caesars Sportsbook. Should you include Wise in your 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson bets?

World No. 2 Scottie Scheffler is the 9-2 favorite on the PGA odds board, while Tyrrell Hatton (14-1), Jason Day (18-1), K.H. Lee (18-1) and Tom Kim (20-1) are also among the top 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson contenders. Jordan Spieth withdrew from the AT&T Byron Nelson 2023 on Monday citing a left wrist injury. Before locking in your 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson picks, be sure to see the golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine.

Our proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June of 2020. In fact, the model is up over $8,400 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament.

McClure's model predicted Jon Rahm would finish on top of the leaderboard at the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. And at the 2023 Masters, the model was all over Rahm's second career major victory heading into the weekend. Rahm was two strokes off the lead heading into the third round, but the model still projected him as the winner.

In addition, the model included Nick Hardy and Davis Riley in its best bets to win the 2023 Zurich Classic. That bet hit at +4500, and for the entire tournament, McClure's best bets returned over $1,100. McClure's best bets also included J.T. Poston winning outright at the 2022 John Deere Classic, even though he was listed as a massive 55-1 longshot.

This same model has also nailed a whopping nine majors entering the weekend. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

Now that the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson field is locked, SportsLine simulated the tournament 10,000 times, and the results were surprising. Head to SportsLine now to see the projected leaderboard.

Top 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson predictions

One major surprise the model is calling for at the AT&T Byron Nelson 2023: K.H. Lee, the two-time defending champion, stumbles this week and barely cracks the top 10. Lee joined elite company last year when he successfully defended his AT&T Bryon Nelson title, joining Sam Snead, Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson as the only golfers to do so in the tournament's history.

He can become the 10th man since World War II to win an event on the PGA Tour three straight years, but the model is not high on his chances. Lee has struggled with consistency this season, finishing outside the top 20 in 12 tournaments. He also ranks 91st in putts per round (28.76) and 97th in one-putt percentage (40.30%), which does not bode well against several elite golfers in the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson field.

Another surprise: Min Woo Lee, a 40-1 longshot, makes a strong run at the title. He has a much better chance to win it all than his odds imply, so he's a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. Lee has only played in six PGA Tour events this season, but he finished T-6 at the Players Championship in March after being a late addition to the field.

He is still relatively unknown in America, but he is a two-time winner on the DP World Tour (2021 Aberdeen Scottish Open, 2020 ISPS Handa Vic Open). Lee has been consistently finishing inside the top 15 on the DP World Tour, and he made the most of his opportunity at the Players Championship. The 24-year-old will be motivated to take advantage of a rare PGA Tour appearance this week, especially against a beatable field with a chance to earn a special temporary membership on the PGA Tour. See who else to pick here
