Best NBA prop bets today for Thunder vs. Spurs (Victor Wembanyama ROY statement)

The Rookie of the Year award takes center stage in San Antonio on Wednesday night, as the two leading contenders – Oklahoma City Thunder big man Chet Holmgren and San Antonio Spurs big man Victor Wembanyama – face off.

Wemby has been on a tear scoring the ball as of late, making him one of the best players to target in the prop market – especially with OKC playing the second night of a back-to-back.

Plus, there is a San Antonio wing that could be undervalued after a few solid games.

Let’s break down the props for one of the biggest matchups of the night:

Devin Vassell OVER 17.5 points

There is a lot to be excited about from Devin Vassell’s last four games, and I think he can go OVER his point total against an OKC team that is seventh in the league in pace and will run with the Spurs (third in pace).

Look at Vassell’s scoring – and usage – in his last four matchups:

Vassell’s usage has been pretty consistent, even with Wemby posting wild usage numbers over his last few games.

I think at 17.5 points, Vassell is a value tonight.

Victor Wembanayma OVER 23.5 points

Victor Wembanyama’s usage rate is through the roof, and he’s taken at least 18 shots in each of his last four games, scoring 24 or more points in seven of his last eight.

This is an interesting matchup against Holmgren, who got the better of Wemby in their first meeting when the No. 1 overall pick was held to just eight points.

Since then, Wembanyama has matured a lot, and he’s really developed as a scorer too. He’s now averaging 20.3 points per game, including 24.1 per game since Christmas Day (12 games).

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander OVER 39.5 points and assists

We saw Joel Embiid drop 70 points on the Spurs on Monday, and now another gifted scorer  – Shai Gilgeous-Alexander – gets a crack at this weak defense.

SGA has cleared 39.5 points and assists in two of his last six games, but he torched the Spurs for 28 points and five assists in just 28 minutes in a 36-point win earlier this season.

I’m hoping San Antonio can keep this game closer, and we know SGA can fill up the box score, averaging 31.1 points and 6.4 assists per game.

This number may seem high, but SGA could easily drop 40 points on this Spurs team and we won’t even have to worry about the assists.
