Horse racing tips: The Valley best bets for Saturday July 29

News Corp form analyst Brad Waters takes an early look at Saturday’s meeting at The Valley.

BEST BET

MILFORD (Race 5, No.1)

Narrowly beaten at his last two outings but trainer Mike Moroney has gone for the blinkers. That should do the trick at The Valley.

VALUE BET

SO SI BON (Race 7, No.3)

The old boy is racing in great heart as usual and wasn’t far away at Caulfield. He’s yet to win at The Valley but rates a top each-way chance on Saturday.

RACE 1: 12:45AM LADBROKE IT! HANDICAP (1000m)

Track should be just about perfect for winter racing on Saturday. Tough race to start but PRINZERRO (5) showed talent when narrowly beaten at his only start while his recent jumpouts have been terrific. ARCHO MACHO (3) ran on well behind Exploring at Flemington and will be fitter again. ROUSSILLON (1) finished hard to score first-up and has drawn perfectly. EPIC PROPORTIONS (2) should be thereabouts on his Sydney form.

SUGGESTED BET: Prinzerro to win.

RACE 2: 1:20PM OPUS GROUP HANDICAP (1000m)

Another tough field of two-year-old fillies to decipher with OUTBACK MISS (2) to be a scratching. TIZ ENUF (9) impressed winning first-up last time in and has trialled well leading up to this. SPICY MARGS (3) has drawn awkwardly but will be fitter for her first-up win. MALABOOM (1) led and tried hard at Caulfield first-up and has blinkers for this. I MISS MARGIE (12) ran on well when narrowly beaten at Geelong but could race closer from the gate.

SUGGESTED BET: Tiz Enuf to win.

TAB MARKET MOVER: Estriella $4.60 – $3.60.

RACE 3: 1:55PM DOMINANT 65 YEARS HANDICAP (1600m)

ANOTHER WIL (7) looked a talented type when bolting in at Moe and his gallop at The Valley on Tuesday morning indicated he has improved again. AFFORDABLE (2) pushed forward and held on at Bendigo first-up and should go well again here. SACRED BULL (10) impressed at Bairnsdale fresh and should be much fitter. TOKENIST (5) was outgunned over 2000m at Caulfield but looks better suited back to 1600m.

SUGGESTED BET: Another Wil to win.

RACE 4: 2:30PM LEE ANN SURYN HANDICAP (2040m)

GOTTABESAVVY (1) is hard fit after a long campaign but should go well again despite dropping back to 2000m on a seven-day back-up. TORRANZINO (2) has emerged as a staying talent this time in and will be the toughest to beat again. THE DEVIL IN HER (9) steps up in trip after a comfortable Sandown win and will be competitive. SO SLEEK (4) is an improver and worth including.

SUGGESTED BET: Gottabesavvy to win.

RACE 5: 3:10PM LUNA HAND CARE HANDICAP (2040m)

MILFORD (1) is ready to win after two excellent efforts in this distance range. He’ll have the blinkers back on and should have the perfect run from barrier two. FLASH FLOOD (5) is on trial at this trip but is a chance to complete a hat trick of wins. LORD ARDMORE (2) wasn’t far away when dropping in class at Flemington and could find this to his liking. KEATS (3) will roll forward and give them something to chase.

SUGGESTED BET: Milford to win/ box first four 1, 2, 5, 6.

RACE 6: 3:50PM DOMINANT BRAND PROTECTION HANDICAP (2500m)

Tough start to the quaddie but CLAIDHEAMH MOR (3) could be looking for this trip after two excellent efforts over 2100m at Sandown. He’ll get every chance to run it out. FERAGO (4) was unlucky at Caulfield last Saturday and is unbeaten over 2500m. NEVER AGAIN (15) also raced at Caulfield last Saturday and could improve back to The Valley. STRAWBERRY ROCK (1) has drawn poorly but his last two runs have been good enough for this.

SUGGESTED BET: Claidheamh Mor each-way.

TAB MARKET MOVER: CIaidheamh Mor $9.50 – $7.

RACE 7: 4:30PM RANVET TRAVIS HARRISON CUP (1600m)

SO SI BON (3) might be rising 10 but the old boy is still racing in terrific fashion and should get his chance to post another win getting back up to 1600m. CHIEF ALTONY (10) went down narrowly at Caulfield last time but he always races well at The Valley. ROYAL MILE (11) ran on well when beaten less than two lengths when resuming but races best over 1600m and will carry only 51kg. FRANKIE PINOT (1) hasn’t raced for four weeks but drops in class for this.

SUGGESTED BET: So Si Bon each-way.

TAB MARKET MOVER: Chief Altony $4.60 – $4.20.

RACE 8: 5:05PM DOMINANT.COM.AU HANDICAP (1600m)

This could be the hardest race of the day for punters but PASSIONE (4) went well against the males at Caulfield last time, drops back to mares’ grade and should get the perfect run from barrier two. DEFIANT DIVA (7) has had a few chances lately but she’s racing well and won’t be far away. CHANDON BURK (1) drops back a level in grade for this and is unbeaten over 1600m. DIVINE DIOSA (10) doesn’t win out of turn but is worth including in all exotics.

SUGGESTED BET: Passione each-way.

TAB MARKET MOVER: Defiant Diva $4.60 – $3.90.

RACE 9: 5:40PM DOMINANT PLANT POWERED HANDICAP (1200m)

SHOW SOME DECORUM (1) has plenty of weight but his first-up record is great and he’s a winner at The Valley. His jumpouts have been good and he’ll fire fresh. KALIUWAA FALLS (7) went down narrowly at this level at Sandown and should be strong late. MAGNUM BULLET (4) has drawn the right gate to push forward and be in this for a long way. PERIELLE (14) will take on older horses but is worth thought.

SUGGESTED BET: Show Some Decorum to win.
