Tuesday’s holiday MLB action began earlier this afternoon with a healthy number of games under the sun. Still, five games have a scheduled first pitch of 6:40 p.m. EST or later, giving bettors plenty of time to get action locked in if they had other plans this morning.

Since we began posting this article, we have had 12 near misses, four cashed tickets, and eight parlays that were seemingly dead on arrival – all normal outcomes when consistently betting longshot parlays.

In this article, we never post a ticket with shorter than +700 odds, meaning that we only need to hit once each week to be profitable, which we have achieved to date. Overall, these plays are 41-31 (56.9%) if played as straight wagers, many of which have been significant alt-lines, even as individual tickets.

Below, we break down our favorite longshot (+750) look for July 4, focusing on today’s matchup between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Los Angeles Dodgers!

MLB Parlay Piece for July 4, 2023

Los Angeles Dodgers Moneyline (-230)

On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Dodgers have the advantage over the Pittsburgh Pirates in all phases of the game. Luis Ortiz enters action with a 6.79 xERA, 5.68 FIP, and a 1.65 WHIP. Emmet Sheehan has been much more effective, to the tune of a 2.82 xERA, 4.12 FIP, and a 0.82 WHIP in a limited sample size this season. Since June 1, the Pirates rank 29th in OPS against right-handed pitching, compared to the Dodgers, which rank 14th. In that same time period, Pittsburgh’s relief unit ranks 26th in FIP and 29th in WHIP, compared to Los Angeles, which ranks 9th in FIP and 15th in WHIP. When one team has the advantage in all three areas of the game, it is typically a safe assumption that they will come away with a victory.

Mookie Betts 3+ Total Bases (+190)

Mookie Betts has demolished left-handed pitching in 2023, posting an .884 OPS and a 140 wRC+ through the first half of the campaign. Tonight, he will face Luis Ortiz, who owns a 4.17 FIP against right-handed batters this season. Notably, Ortiz has struck out only 15.4% of the right-handed hitters he has faced, meaning that Betts will have a chance to experience some good luck on balls in play in today’s matchup.

Freddie Freeman 3+ Total Bases (+200)

Luis Ortiz has not had an answer for left-handed hitters this season, allowing a .384 opponent batting average and nearly three baserunners per inning pitched. On Tuesday, he will face Freddie Freeman, who is one of the most dangerous left-handed hitters in baseball. According to props.cash, Freeman has recorded three or more total bases in 16 of his last 47 games played, despite a recent drought. In a dream matchup, Freeman has a great opportunity to have a standout performance.
